Are you forgetting stuff?

I am 71, so it comes with the territory-the "Senior Moments". You know forgetting things. I had "Senior Moments" when I was 17, so they're not new, but just more of them. I have to write things down, and make lists. Otherwise, I'd forget about it. I always remember what I was supposed to get at the store, when I get home without it. How about you?

Same as you Fuzzy, but when I was younger, especially busy during my working years, I'd forget things too, especially if I was 'multi-tasking'. So I'm not too hard on myself now that I'm older, some memory loss is expected and like you, I just make lists for shopping and mark things on my wall calendar to make sure I don't forget things, like give the dog his heartworm pill on the 10th of the month for 6 months. Junior moments or senior moments, I just say darn, I forgot. :D

Oh Yeah. I lock the doors and windows before bedtime, and then go around and make sure I locked them...

and then, repeat and repeat...............

My forgetfulness gets worse the more things I have on my mind. Then I forget things that are normally automatic, like keeping track of my keys. I suppose it's always been that way, but it seems like all it takes is two things at once to get brain overload now.

I keep a running list on the back of an envelope to keep track of things I need to do or things I need to buy.

I don't forget as much as I don't trust myself, I check and double check to make sure I turned off the oven, locked the door, took my medication, etc...

I think I'm still in the normal range, said the crazy person, LOL!!!

The lists are important because they take the pressure off. That's what makes you forget. I have one of those erasable boards and write things in as soon as I see I need them. Then when I am going shopping I take a picture on my cell phone.

With a Monday to Friday list of things to do each week and a shopping list each day I thought I was doing alright, until a couple of days ago, when I put the oven on and half hour later realised it was empty and my dinner was still in the fridge .....

NancyNGA said, "I forget things that are normally automatic, like keeping track of my keys." I have a box I keep my keys in. It's right by the front door. I throw my keys in it when I come in. When I come to go out and the keys aren't in that box, they could be anywhere in the house. I don't have a clue where I put them down. And the search begins.........

Buy one of those loops that go around the neck. I see people with those.

There is also an electronic unit that you can put on your keys that enable you to trace it. It's frustrating spending time looking for stuff. Also very exciting when you find it. Here's a trick that I use when looking for stuff. I use a flashlight. Somehow that seems to help as you shine on different places instead of scanning with your eyes. It's a more thorough search as you tend to look under things.

The other day I was searching for a government document that I had to mail and had no idea where I put it. I had a copy. But I needed the original. Guess where I found it? In the scanner on my printer.

If you wear a name-tag on your shirt upside down, it is easier for you to read it when someone asks your name.

Oops I forgot what I was going to say

Oh I remember now. I was going to say I write things that I have to do and then sadly I forget where I left the note. My older sister and I can be talking on the phone and right in the middle of the conversation neither of us can remember what we were talking about. My Sister blames it on the medications we both take. I wish I could believe her.

My stm (short term memory) is better than it was in a few years now that I have cut out a few medications that were not doing anything good for me. My LTM (long term memory) is still not as good as I wish it was but I am starting to remember more things with the elimination of some meds.

Yes, the worse thing someone can do is give me a phone number on a white piece of paper. Haven't seen my uncle in 14 years between the time I took the piece of paper from him while we were standing at his car and the time I walked back into my apartment, then walked in one room to another, I don't recall where the paper went. Only reason I even thought about it was because I called a friend of my aunt who's a neighbor and she wanted the number as she was his childhood friend to and wanted to make sure she got to speak with him before he leaves town.

Don't even suggest looking in the waste basket, I already did that. I'm hoping the number on my caller id is his since it's the only MI number on my phone. Sigh.

Don't even get me started on keys, I have three sets, I always get two more sets made. Keep one set attached to my smaller purse that I carry everywhere, one on the counter where I keep loose change and the other set I keep where I have to play hide and seek most times when I leave if I decide not to leave inside one of my other large purses.

I've tried to have a one spot for everything unfortunately that one spot sometimes get's stuff thrown on top of it when I'm doing a crafting project and if I'm really tired and have to do a mad dash clean for whatever reason, well things manage to get scooped up and I say I'll retrieve it later, never happens then I forget where said needed item is.

Ever find yourself pushing a non-existing button thinking it will ding your sell or tv remote. LOL! Only works if you have a base or other such connection or other phone to call the phone. The tv remotes you mostly just have to spend have the day looking for it.

I remember my Mom trying to make a call on the remote from the TV. She was yelling and telling me she couldn't even get a dial tone. When I told her she was using the remote we laughed soo much. Now I guess I am turning into my Mother.:)

Interesting. Why the 'back of an envelope'? What I have is an eraseable board on my fridge.
Before going out I take a picture on my cell phone. Then I can refer to it while shopping.

I'm going to install a video camera when I am doing a job because I misplace parts, tools, or whatever and spend more time looking for them than what it's worth.

Then when I lose something I can rewind the tape and find out where I put it.
