Are you happy where you live?

a rural - sort of-suburb area- but car dependent area- no stores or anything around.
Yeah, same here; since I drive very little these days, that's why I don't like where I live any more. I don't mind our house, although I think we could be fine in a slightly smaller one; I wish I could just plunk it down in a different neighborhood. Huzz is happy here so I guess that's all that matters.

Pretty much. Crime has gone up but then seems like it is everywhere. It’s a 3 bedroom rambler in suburb with my little garden with flowers and veggies. Neighborhood has changed a lot over the 37 years we’ve lived here. Younger families with lots of kids. I enjoy listening and watching them play, scream and laugh. Especially the laughter.

I looked into senior housing a few years ago. Too expensive for what was offered. Some around here charge $5000 a month and up for a 200 sq ft apartment. What would I do with all my stuff? Also, too may rules - I like to live by my own rules. Most of them seemed just to be holding tanks for people waiting to pass.
I had to laugh at your “holding tanks” statement! The charge for these senior housing communities can be astronomical! What ordinary Senior can afford such? I worked in a professional career all of my life and can’t pay $5k a month for an apartment! I understand there are seniors who retired more well-off, and can however. I have now lived in a senior community ( lower priced one) and I can tell you it’s not what I expected. I did not expect to meet such interesting people- that a won thing. I also did not expect bullying, extreme gossip. And I did not expect management to cast off valid complaints as just a senile person who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I can not tolerate it here. I am moving. I know there will be issues there as well as no place is perfect, but I feel I would be better off in a mixed community. We have had several deaths here last year and some not back from Heath rehabilitation.

I love my house that I bought with my husband 13 years ago. We put so much love into it over the years, including new roof, solar panels, new windows, siding, wood flooring, etc. It has 1 acre, just enough for my pear and apple trees to grow and a garden. I'm in a semi-rural area, and within 10 minutes of everything by car - bank, library, community college, hospital, shopping, freeway. There's a city park and museum in town, about 20 minutes away, and also the mall. I'm within half an hour of a larger city by freeway. I never thought I would love a house as much as I love this one. It's become so comfortable and I have a lot of memories built in here because of raising my son and spending time with my late husband. Although my mother keeps asking me to move to Florida to be close to her and my sister, I cannot handle the heat, humidity, and hurricanes. I have lived in a condo and apartment before and hated it because I realize I need my peace and quiet and privacy. This is very important for my creativity. So I plan to stay here as long as I can.

I am very happy with where I live. I have everything I need nearby. Always very close to the ocean( lots of water arround nova scotia).
No matter what town , city, or village you travel to here there are always lots of friendly people to chat to. People learn more about themselves and rhe world arround them when able to sit down and shoot the breeze with people they do not know.
Not to put anyone down but I spent three weeks in Toronto, Ontario. In malls, stores, subways, being an everyday tourist. Not being able to chat with anyone. I could not wait to get back home.

Simple answer s no. I am looking to move and am going to hire one of those realtors that do the searches for their clients in places where the client wishes to live. I have spent many hours looking at homes in areas that I am considering and also looking at other important things. Crime rates, and conveniences in the area would be important among others.
My relocation specialist, as they are called, sent me two homes to consider. One home is in Tennessee and the other is just outside of Pensacola, but still near the water and where the lifestyle is slower. I removed Alabama from my potential list. I asked the realtor if she would contact the realtors in those two cities and send more pictures, including the outside of the property.
