Are you happy with your bathroom?

Our house was built in 1938. Everything was put into it, as it was available though the years. This year I will totally gut it, move some walls and change door placement. No more tub. Instead a curbless shower. To many elders tangle with a tub and we hear it on the scanner quite often. Put blocking in walls for grab bars. I will put everything where it makes sense.
Stretch - test drive your lay out with a walker and a wheel chair. If necessary build a card board dummy.

We have two small bathrooms, one with a tub and the ensuite with a walk-in shower.
One sink and drawers on each side in the vanity. I can’t understand overly large sinks that take up most of the counter space. Really, why does anyone need a large sink in the bathroom. I need countertop.

One thing that I have that is out of fashion is a 3 section vanity mirror. I have all the little things in there out of sight and easily retrieved.

Small is what I want; big has to be cleaned and sanitized. I’m very practical.

I would like a heated floor and towel rack in the ensuite.

At our second house we took out tub and one sink. That left room for a coffee maker which made 5:00 mornings a lot easier.

A towel rack - Amazon, plug in or you can hardwire it. The one in our bath has been on for 8 years. The one in the guest bath keeps it slightly tempered during bad cold spells. $ 100 and up.

Floor - Woo under rug pads are great. There are other brands out ther. The one in our bath has been hard wired and is between tile and an old silk rug. It also has been in use 8 years. Under the living room rug which is a 12x16 we have three individual ones for the furry. In winter all three are on, in summer only one. Those are plugged in. We have them as under desk heaters as I cannot stand the smell and noise of little heaters and have used them as "because it is cold" presents for the elderly in our circle. All are in use:>)

My DD has that.. both underfloor heating, and heated towel rail it's so lovely and warm in her en-suite

I was watching one of those buy-this home shows. In every home, no matter what the bathroom looked like, all the prospective new owners said "This won't do, It has to go". Plus there's all these ads on TV for bathroom remodeling. According to statistics, the bathroom is the most often remodeled room in the house.
Are you happy with your bathroom?
Yes, but i remodeled it recently. Before that, it pleased me on varying levels from barely acceptable to disgusting.
