Are you happy with your bathroom?

Original owner..made one Blue for their boys.
hate it..weird color
can't even get the right color replacement toilet seat.😠😫

About 4 years ago, we hired a contractor to rip out the old shower (one of those fiberglass things that reek of contractor-grade material) and tile it. About one-third of the way into the job, I fired him because even I know there are things one must do with waterproofing that this clown absolutely ignored.

Contractor #2 demo'd what the clown had done and did the job properly.

Painted the entire bathroom ourselves with a neutral color, new lights, new faucets all around. So yep, quite happy with this bathroom.

We have a master bath, a guest bath and a half bath. We had the guest bath and half bath remodeled several years ago but not the master bath because I thought I couldn't live through it. Our house is 26 years old and the master bath has taupe tile, brown granite and black sinks and toilets, along with a big black jetted tub. It was nice in its' day. The bathroom is big and functional but I would like to have it updated. When we bought the house I swore I would get rid of the black fixtures. Now, 19 years later...

I would have to move out of the house for a couple of weeks so I'll probably leave the remodel to the next owner.

Not at all, especially from a functional view point. In order to have enough room for someone using a cane to get into the room I had to remove the knob set. As for the decor, I refer to it as run-down gas station.

Frankly I think it is ridiculous all of these re-dos and renos. If you like your bathroom, just leave it be. Sure if something is looking really grungy or falling apart, do it over. However, a lot of times, hubby and I watch these home flipping etc. shows and the place looked lovely the way it was, but I guess if you want to sell and get a good price, then go for it.

My parents had the same looking home for over 30 years, no changes at all. My mom just decided at one point to get a new dining room table and chairs or other new furniture but the house stayed the same. Things were fixed if they needed to be fixed but otherwise it stayed as is. Mom on top of working full time as a teacher would wash all the walls every year, etc. we all had a share in housekeeping.

I went over to visit my condo neighbour the other day. They are not selling their place. But she wanted a re-do. The kitchen, bathroom, ceilings were all redone. I could not understand why they had it done. It looked wonderful the way it was. And this took a few months, the noise, the mess, oh and her husband got sick, so he was in the hospital.

People just want to compete with the Jones as they used to say. It is not necessary. Oh and the condo below us has been renovated 3 times and the one condo above started renos and we had to complain to our strata company as they would be drilling constantly upstairs. People are crazy!!!

When I bought my condo 4 years ago I did some remodeling in the bathroom. I really liked the stone countertop and the tile floor.

I had my son put it a new higher toilet, sink and faucet. We painted it and also painted the vanity. I bought a fancy light and a big fancy mirror. I installed new towel bars and safety bars in the shower. So it looks good without spending a fortune. I preferred to spend more money in other areas such as enclosing my balcony.,

I feel very much as you do. A few years ago, I replaced the carpet, and used a high quality commercial grade, so it still looks fine. I had major plumbing restoration done in the bathroom, and I repaint the house inside and out when needed, and keep everything in good condition. But I don't update cabinets and redo countertops or tile just to match the latest trend. As long as I'm pleased with it, that's all I'm concerned with. If I try to sell it, younger buyers probably wouldn't offer as good a price as they would for a home that had the latest designs, but it would probably work out about the same for me, whether I spend to renovate, or lose some profit on the sale because I don't.

We need a new shower with the safety features but cannot afford it right now. The master bathroom is big and roomy. I do not use the garden tub. Husband uses it to store things for the bathroom. The shower is okay but we have to be careful getting in and out with the raised portion on the bottom. It has a seat and an area to grab hold of but not as good as the one we really want.

A bath tub?
In three houses we took the tubs out. The current jetted beast has a cover and pad and works as window seat. This was a patio home 20 years back and realtor pictures for the most recent sale. The sink is a Kohler antilia and the quartz vein of the granit shows; it goes over to the shower and the seats. The grantit's sister slab showed up and turned into a major kitchen/living room remodel.

Can you at least install safety rails and add a shower chair. A hand held costs around $25 for a very basic option. We just added a Moen handheld with fixed head and the runner is a heavy duty grip bar for around $150. No plumber required. It took shopping around on Amazon

Our house was built in 1938. Everything was put into it, as it was available though the years. This year I will totally gut it, move some walls and change door placement. No more tub. Instead a curbless shower. To many elders tangle with a tub and we hear it on the scanner quite often. Put blocking in walls for grab bars. I will put everything where it makes sense.

I fell in love with my apartment because of the bathroom, and the large garden tub which I never had before.
They have installed two safety bars …. these buildings are almost 15 years old now and reflect that style.

My bathroom and kitchen are probably the same size, and I love that!
They put a lot of thought into building these Senior apartments, with details galore.

We would have to hire someone but that is an option. Thank you.

When I was in the hospital, my B.R. got wiped out with broken pipes when the furnace kicked out on a super cold day, in the middle of winter.. My toilet actually exploded. The spigots froze and when they thawed, they sprayed water for days. I was in the hospital for about a month. There was a 18 inch layer of ice flowing out of my B.R. I never even thought about "re doing" it with something different. The B.R. was really well thought out.
