Are you hot or not?

Yesterday I had a guy come work on my tractor. Im working in my flower beds dressed in a short sleeve shirt and capris.
And Im barefoot since theyre adjacent to the patio. He has on a hat, a turtleneck, a long sleeve shirt, and a jacket. And he tells me he's cold.

First let me say its in the 70's here and I personally am hot. I am definitely not looking forward to later when its 80's and 90's.
I hate being hot and theres only so many clothes you can take off and still be decent. :D

Anyways this made me think about how everybody thinks old people are always cold.
Actually I was kinda looking forward to being old and cold. :D

Right now, the weather is about right for capri yoga pants and short sleeves. I'm not looking forward to the really hot weather to come, but I have to say that last winter was the first I can remember that I have really had a hard time with the cold. I'm just sixty now so thinking maybe we should move to Florida. 🥶

Reading from the AARP magazine about post-polio-syndrome, one of the downsides (side effects) can be intolerance to hot & cold. Under 70 I found I need a jacket at times. Neighbors think I'm a wimp. I used to sleep on top of the sheets, but now need a light blanket & sheet. I think you can blame that on pps or age. I had polio age 9.

I stay cold and uncomfortable all winter. I do fine in the summer, and keep my thermostat on 82, but when I go places, every building inside seems freezing to me. I would like to wear a jacket to buy groceries, even in the middle of summer, but I don't.
You keep your thermostat on 82? No wonder you are cold everywhere you go. I keep ours at 65! Its a bit on the cold side but when we go out it’s usually nice and warm..

Our electric bill is low because we don’t turn the heat up.
Oh, I think we're talking about different situations. In the winter, I keep my thermostat on 72, not by choice, but if I kept it on 82, the natural gas bill would be too high. I wear a jacket or sweater in the winter most days.

But, in the summer, like where we're at right now, I keep my thermostat on 82. In Texas, most days are 100 outside in summer, so when the thermostat is on 82, the electric bill isn't too high. If I kept the thermostat on 65 in the summer, the central air would never shut off, and could wear out the unit, not to mention a horrendous electric bill.

It’s 100 degrees already? It’s was 9 degrees 48.2 Fahrenheit and it’s still springtime. Even during summer our temperatures never go over 90 degrees. Sometimes the temperatures get to the mid eighties but not often. We have a heat pump that heats AND cools our house automatically.

No, it's 83 today outside; it varies right now, it was 98 a few days ago, but most days near the end of May and the 3-4 months after are 100+ in Central Texas. I just have standard air conditioning and natural gas heat. I don't know anything about heat pumps. Maybe they're more efficient, but the cost of changing everything out would be very expensive, and I might not be around long enough to realize any savings.

I keep my house at 65 in the winter too. Ive been accused of living in a meat locker before. :D

I am the same way.
I long for the day when I need to bring along a sweater.

I would never be able to survive a Southern summer with the heat PLUS humidity.

Me too. I was hoping as I got older I would cool down. :D I could never live in Florida. The husband booked us on a January cruise out of Florida for our anniversary. It was awful. He told everybody that I whined about the heat. :D

Its so nice when things cool off. I can wear my flannel and corduroy shirts and I can wear a blazer when I go out.
Autumn is my very most favorite season. That and the autumn colors. :D
Early spring is good too. Temp is just right for doing yard work.

For me, outdoors, T-shirt weather is in the high 40s, depending on wind.

Thermostat is set on 72 F., year-round. But in the bedroom, I have two fans twirling and a window air conditioning unit set at 68 year-round.

I ain't "hot" but I certainly don't walk around with a jacket on. I can't remember the last time I wore a sweater.

I do like warm weather but must build up to it gradually. It got too warm too fast for me here climbing into the high seventies with lots of sun. That's hot for the this time in May. I wore sleeveless tops and Capri pants, slept with the ac and just a sheet and I was fine. The car has AC too. Everyone has it otherwise we'd melt in summertime. It's not really an age thing.
