Are you one of those horrible "morning people"?

Today was typical. woke up about 4am made myself stay in bed until 4:30, got up, took dog out, did the five phases of dusting on the whole house, vacuumed the whole house, swept the porches, did my brackets on the ESPN site called my brother at 7:55 and announced my bracket picks and a promise to win this year. Wanted to go to the library at 8 but realized they weren't open for two hours. Bored by 8:30.

You're not real. 😁

I for one, am impressed. Me dusting, ever? Seriously, me dust anything, ever?

I can't relate. My errands usually wait until about 3PM. Then its busy time until about 11PM.

Giving it some thought, I think I am just plain horrible because, when I first retired, I deliberately did not change my morning alarm clock, woke early every morning, grabbed a cup of coffee and hopped back into bed because, it gave me such joy to know that while other people were rushing around, doing the daily commute, I was still in bed 🤭

Of course, I am a better person nowadays and don't indulge in that childish behaviour ... except on Monday mornings ... 😅

When I retired and moved here to Florida I have to admit that would laugh when other states got hit with lots of snow as have blinding hate for snow but now 6 months a year I am looking over my shoulder because of hurricanes and it is bad karma for laughing at others .

Don't get me wrong I still laugh , lol but I can smell my luck running out .

I dunno, fuzzy. I'm pretty much a hybrid. My bladder gets me up at 2 AM and most of the time, I'm up for the rest of the morning. As to whether or not I'm sunshine and lollipops, that's where the hybrid kicks in. The answer to that is definitely NO. I stopped drinking coffee about 2 years ago, so it's not a "I gotta have my coffee" thing before I'll even acknowledge your existence. Nope, it's just I don't want to be bothered with people. I enjoy the silence.

I am not above taking a nap to get something close to about 7 hours of sleep per 24-hours. But I'll never get all of that in one sleep session. Mr. Bladder is quite firm about that.

I'm surprised you stopped drinking coffee because those we called " Lifers " and coffee go together ,

Every Military Retiree I know loves their coffee.

You stopped drinking it due to health reasons ?

No particular reason, except perhaps laziness -- cleaning the pot, descaling on occasion, grinding beans, the whole rigmarole. Kinda got out of the habit. If, on those rare occasions when I'm eating breakfast in a restaurant, I'll order a cup of joe -- but that's really rare these days. Nobody makes breakfast better than I do. So sayeth the Breakfast Monks in my family.

I am a certified, card-carrying coffee snob, however. Spent too many years in Europe to fall victim to American coffee. And when I drink it, it's black. No goop, no sugar. Black.

Like my soul. :devilish:

Lol oh you are like many Miamians who do the whole coffee brewing thing . It's like an art to these Caribbean bunch

I put a big spoon of instant coffee with milk in microwave and that is it .

There are two kinds of people- morning people and evening people. Morning people get up at 5 or 6, and they're singing, all bright and happy. Evening people crawl out bed, and like Dracula, the sunlight burns their eyes. At dusk, the morning people fade away, and the evening people rule.

So, are you one of those horrible "morning people"? 🙂

I'm an evening person.
I am a morning person. I get up at 4 and am willing to sing, be bright, and be happy. But due to circumstances out of my control I have to fight my way past unpleasant realities to get back to my normal "happy morning" self.

My microwave is very high on a shelf and so it's too easy to spill liquids from it. So I have developed a similar method. I put a spoonful of instant decaf into a cup. I fill it half-way with milk and the rest with boiling water. Done! :)

You got a break... I had this post written for you at 4 and then forgot to post it.... so you got an extra hour of sleep. :giggle:
-----------

Wake up, Fuzz! One of your "horrible morning people" is stopping by to make sure you're awake so you can experience the joys of sunrise. Well okay, so it's 4 a.m. and the sun 🌞 won't be showing its face for hours yet, but it's time to catch some worms. You can thank me later. 👍

@Eupher talked about Mr. Bladder. I have Mrs. Bladder, it's what always wakes me up. I drink a lot of coffee during the day lately, I've rediscovered Dunkin Donuts coffee and I can't stop drinking it. Hey, used to live in Boston, the land of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Sometimes I go back to sleep, sometimes not, like today.

I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and couldn't fall back to sleep .. so, here I am, checking out the forum.
I might try going back to bed in a bit.
It's good. It's normal. In such circumstances if I feel drowsy after an hour I'll go back to sleep even if it's only for a short time. When you've slept enough you can feel it. You feel alive and ready for a productive or happy day. :)

I am definitely an evening person. When I get up, I have to sit for at least an hour, before I can do anything. I can be dragging all day, but the later in the evening it gets, the more alive and ready to take on the world I get.
For me 5 AM is the time to come home, not the time to get up.
