I am here in Florida at our home, which is located in a retirement village. Yesterday, as us 'old-timers' were sitting around the pool and talking about back in the day, someone brought up the issue of "did you set out and accomplish what you intended to do in your life?" For me, without trying to sound conceited, I never thought that I accomplished as much or what I was capable of doing.
I graduated high school, college, served in the military, got married and had two great kids and started my work life as a mechanical engineer, which just did not satisfy me, so I decided to go to flight school, graduated and got my first flying job with a regional carrier before settling with a major airline. Spent 21 years with them and then retired. I also tried drag racing for two years, but that did not pay much because I did not have a major sponsor and with raising a family, I just had to move on.
All in all not bad, but I still feel that I could and was capable of doing better. It is not that I am not satisfied accomplishing what I have done, it is just that as I reflected back over my life and thought about things, I just thought that I could have done better. Not sure what better is, maybe find a cure for a disease or something, but whatever, just more than what I have.
What about the rest of you, if you would care to elaborate.
