Finishing up the last 2-3 episodes of Anthony Bourdain's series "Parts Unknown", a CNN production, on Max. Several months back I watched his Travel Channel series "No Reservations".

The CNN production delves more into his political stance than food, which is sometimes so pronounced I fast forward through it. I'm not interested in his political bent, though sometimes he sees the light a bit. Case in point, his episode on a small town in southern West Virginia -- these are people definitely not wired like he is, but his commentary was quite supportive of them and the choices they make.

The West Virginia episode was filmed in the summer of 2017, I believe. Bourdain hung himself in June 2018, presumably while suffering depression.

Will have to check it out.
Just lately there seems to be a minor trend at doing 8 30 min. episodes. So the whole series is really not longer than a movie.
I noticed that watching "A Man on the Inside" series. Same thing.
 

I finally started watching Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Prime) after @ChiroDoc suggested it. It took me about a week to get back to the pilot episode which I initially only watched about 10 minutes of. I never thought one way or another about Donald Glover but he's very cute, sweet, cool, calm, collected and engaging in this. He is also co-creator and executive producer of the show. He has an impressive body of works but I've never seen him in anything. I've never seen Maya Erskine, the lead actress either.

The Premise per Wikipedia:
"Two strangers independently agree to become secret agents for a mysterious organization under cover as a married couple using the names "John" and "Jane" Smith. The couple must work through missions as their espionage skills, and developing relationship, are put to the test. All instructions are received from an anonymous source via text. The Smiths take on a separate mission in each of eight episodes and the show features different locales while also focusing on the marital relationship the two characters assume."

I know romance is coming between the main characters and I'm interested to see how that unfolds.

Nicola Walker is one of my very favorite Brit actresses. She has a pretty wide range. It was a good series, although I can't recall if I watched any beyond season 4 after Walker left the series. Will have to check on that.
The Brits are practically peerless when it comes to mysteries.
 
I was watching Hart of Dixie on Prime. It‘s about a young female surgeon who inherits a practice in a small southern town. I say was watching because midway through the first season I realized I was watching supposed excellent young surgeon from NY behave like an emotionally unhinged 14 year old girl. And fully supported in this behavior by stereotyped and sometimes downright goofy Southern small town folks.
 
Taking a trip back to "The Venture Brothers."

A spoof of the old "Jonny Quest" cartoon, Bond films, and the entire spy/super-villain genre. Hilarious, and soooo many "inside jokes" from decades of popular culture.

Lots of weird and wacky characters, many of them endearing like the incompetent "everyman" Henchmen 21 and 24.

When Amazon sent me the latest what to watch for the week email, I saw Mysterious Island and became intrigued. It is a two part mini series that aired in 2005 and stars Patrick Steward and Kyle MacLachlan. I'm half way through the first part. Here is Part 1 in it's entirety.

Loved his show and was shocked he took his life but as you know he suffered from depression had bouts of addiction in his past .

His initial shows were just cooking and loved his Asian eatery shows but yes later he became more political .

Bourdain ate stuff that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole, though Andrew Zimmer - also with the Travel Channel - is orders of magnitude worse. Still, Bourdain showed his flexibility when he went into a Waffle House with a chef I think based out of Charleston, SC.

Anthony Bourdain was a brilliant but (as we all know) troubled guy. I attended a conference where he was the keynote speaker. He was invited to a cocktail reception in which he was the featured guest and he barely spoke to anyone. His keynote speech the next day was pretty dark and I'm sorry to say that he came off as kind of a jerk. After his speech, he immediately took a car back to the airport and didn't talk to anyone.

I know he was dealing with lots of demons but after that experience I just can't watch his show.
 
We are watching every series by Harlan Coben on Netflix. They are mystery/thrillers. There is always some weirdness, lots of twists and turns and a murder or two. My only complaint as there are always LOTS of characters and sometimes it is difficult to keep up with who is who. Just when you think you are lost, the payoff is always great and ties it all together.
