Are you the "head" of your family?

It was my dad's second marriage. I had a step brother, who was ten years older than me, and have a brother, who is 10 years younger than me. That's why I call him, the "mistake". As a kid, sitting around the Thanksgiving table, I never thought I'd be the head of the family. No, I don't wear a crown, and nobody kisses my hand, ( It would be nice, though.) But, I feel like I have an obligation to keep the family together, as it spreads out. Are you the "head" of your family?

Not really... we're all too spread around, but yes if there;s a Funeral or something then they all look to me..even before my father who was the last to go..died...... However I do have a brother 9 years older.. as well as 3 siblings younger... and 2 steps...

I'm the oldest family member these days, but my youngest daughter is the family 'GLUE' ... when any family events need organization, she always takes the the lead, and gets everything rolling.

Fair or not, now the rest of them have gotten into the habit of expecting her to take charge of everything.
To her credit, she does do a great job for all occasions that come around.

Well, since my mother is gone, I guess I'm the "matriarch" these days. Nobody pays any more attention to me than they did before, so I guess it's just a ceremonial title......

In my own mind... possibly.

Not in any actual way though, LOL. Not sure we have a "head" of family.

Not me. My younger sister takes on that role. She has family values and expectations that no one else in our small family would even think of.

I am the oldest, which my niece and nephew have taken the time to remind me. I would say I have retired from the role of "head".

Being the oldest I guess I am, but all the ones I cared about are gone, and frankly the rest that are left, I can do without.

My husband is the patriarch of his family now since his older sister passed this year.

Well I am the oldest.....and my family let me think I'm the head honcho....

I agree; seeing how the heads of both my & Huzz's families, espec. if they were female were treated (expected to always step up and arrange everything and have only the females doing all the work): I don't want the position either.
