I have to say that most people are not like they seem on the forums .
Thanks for your response, that surprised me, but thinking about it I guess I can understand. People feel freer to say things online than in person maybe?

Ego defense mechanisms are there to shield us from knowing who we are. We do have a vague idea of who we are of course, but it's never spot on. It doesn't need to be "spot on" for basic survival.
 
I do not believe anyone comprehends the full spectrum of who we are as individuals The problem with individualism is humans are social beings. This means as individuals we are also parts of the people in our lives.
