Artificial Intelligence May Replace Millions

I had to really make myself accept the fact, we had our time. We had kids that had to find their niche in the world.
They had kids that have or are trying to do the same and where they take it is their choice now. Whether we go with it or not.
I was deeply concerned and then realized, it matters not how I feel. It's like just get in the back seat Grandma, we're at the wheel now.

Wow, truly a puzzle. How can we get anyone online to prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they are human? (Without showing up at our door.)
No way to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, but companies that build mainstream AI systems (Microsoft, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) treat transparency as a foundational requirement. That includes disclosing that the system is artificial, avoiding impersonation, and not fabricating identities. It's just built-in, so you could just ask if it's an AI. Granted there is nothing that would prevent a rogue AI creator from getting around this, but it's not the conventional model.

AI is only as honest as its operator. Hence, I'm not amused at smiley's teasing.

I have 6 Amazon Echo Shows in my house. They use Artificial Intelligence and seem to know EVERYTHING about health, history and the current news. Years ago I had 20 big books called The Encyclopedia Britannica. It knew everything about everything. Now the AI in my Amazon Echo Shows know everything about everything. Even with medical problems they always give me a solution without my having to call my doctor. Their only flaw is that they cannot write prescriptions.

On this very site we were infested with them. They call it 'training'. I call it 'deception'.
I get your point, but it's important to understand the distinction between an operator and a creator. The AI is simply a program (Lines of code), and it doesn't know anything (Including honesty or dishonesty). An operator, or their character or morals, are independent from the program.

On the other hand, a creator can write anything into the program, including the ability to mask it's identity. Many are used for training and information gathering, and it's understandable why that can bother people because you don't know the intent, and that can be quite disturbing.

It's not that I don't know the intent, it's that I'm being used without my knowledge or consent. It is dishonest. I'm not a guinea pig.
It's like Josef Mengele incarnate, but there! šŸ¤”I may exaggerate.

Yes, I'm afraid it's just the age we live in. When you walk down the street or go into a store, there are cameras everywhere. When you search the internet, and even all posts on this forum are discoverable by the general public using a Google search. Amazon, retailers, credit card companies, and others track what you buy. Apps on your phone track you, TV's and programs providers track what you watch and they suggest programs you may be interested in. They know your personality and interests.

Aside from that, there are Data Brokers, "protected" data breeches. and the Dark Web. You can reduce some of it, but only to a point, and sadly that point is getting smaller every day.

AI told me my wife's MacBook Air had an optical audio out port as part of the 1/8" headphone jack, so I purchased a cable with an 1/8" optical jack. Turns out, MacBook Airs don't have that port; MacBook Pros did, but not the MacBook Air. I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out why it wouldn't work.

In other words, you can't always trust what AI tells you.
