Asian Employees In Asian Restaurants

I frequent a half dozen Asian restaurants and have eaten in maybe 50 different ones in the past ten years. This question applies to buffet style and regulars places, why are all the employees Asian? I always tip but I wonder is the money going to the owners family or is the help people separate from the owners?

Does it matter? If you are tipping because the service is good and you enjoyed the food then why would you even wonder? You could ask them but that would be completely inappropriate. Either way if the service was good, you tip. Where it goes once you tip isn’t really anyone’s concern.

I don’t mean that in a negative way. It doesn’t seem like it’s our business to know these things unless it appears like forced labour.

From the places I worked while I was going to school, 15% went to the bus people for cleaning the tables. If it’s a family run business perhaps they have a different type of arrangement.

I never thought it was odd at all to see Asians employed at an Asian restaurant, they could very well be family or just hired help. I always tip well and leave the money arrangements to the restaurant owners and their employees. Either way, the cooks and servers should benefit from the tips at the end of the day.

We also always tip and never concern ourselves with how they divvy up the money. Sometimes each person keep their tips and in some places they pool them.

None of our affair. If we had good service and were otherwise satisfied with our meal we're happy!

Actually, it makes the place seem more authentic if the servers are of the same ethnicity as the restaurant. I remember going to an Italian restaurant called ''Corleone's'' and the manager and waiters looked Italian and right out of the "Godfather'' movies. Lol

That’s what I thought also. I’d expect an Asian Restaurant to have Asian workers.

Our Chinese restaurant has Chinese workers. lol

Asian restaurants have been a gateway for illegal aliens to come to America.
The illegal has the status of an indentured servant. He works without pay for several years until he has the skills to leave this protected environment.
Immigration Service has know of this event for decades; however, they meet a blank wall when they try to determine who is who: all the owners, supervisors furnish information on employees, 'He is son of who works at the other restaurant in Denver... The language barrier is a tool used to thwart Immigration Dept... We do not understand...
They are aware of the need for documentation and always find semi=acceptable reasons for the worker lacks such papers.
These aliens are here to work, cause no problems...
They are spread throughout the nation, with the majority in 'china towns' of
West Coast, NY...
