Asparagus, do you like it?

I love asparagus. We have some wild growing in our fence rows, but it's not enough to pick for a meal. I'm hoping it keeps growing.

My latest way of cooking it is by wrapping some stalks in bacon & cooking it slowly on the grill over indirect heat. The bacon cooks & the asparagus is a crisp tender. I had one left over & ate it for breakfast yesterday.

Love asparagus in any form but most lightly steamed with butter and little salt.

Attended an Asparagus Festival years ago in CA. Food booths featured it cooked many different ways. Best was fresh young spears dipped in wet batter and deep fried. Served with a mayo based dipping sauce. Great finger food. But then, I’m from the south where anything dipped in batter and deep fried is considered gourmet. šŸ˜Ž

I’ve been told that they proper way to eat asparagus spears is with the fingers. How do you eat yours?

Love it. I bought some local asparagus a couple of weeks ago. $7/lb. It was so disappointing. Not sure where their ā€˜local’ source was as this was old and tough. Maybe this would be a good day to drive to a local farm market.

If I make a sauce, I put extra in little bottles and store in the freezer so I don’t have to fuss if I want some with the next batch.
