At least 10 dead and 30 injured in New Orleans after SUV ploughs into crowds

Remembered Twilight Zone, "For civilization to survive it must remain Civilized"

I'm sure it was an attack on a way of life Na-Ahlens has.

But do you get the reality. If you protect crowds you put up cement barriers just like along
I-State highway repairs to keep traffic ordered. Auto Block off the Blocks of crowds. It's mostly the same with Firearms.
Metal detectors and cameras. Firearm dealers, cement in the ground steel posts around its
entrances etc. Of course, metal detectors and steel Bar enclosures.

Drive N. Broadway in st. louis, enjoy the cement barriers.
  • LB-48 Concrete Jersey Barrier for Traffic and Safety Applications
  • Forklift Knockouts for easy placement.
  • 48"L x 24"W x 32"H, Top of unit is 6" thick
  • 750 lbs.
  • Gray Finish
  • Full Truck Load is 60.
  • Call for freight quote.
  • $200 each. Most likely they can be rented.
Some highway repairs have 10's of thousands set in place. No shortages. 13,000 or so for 10 miles of barriers. to run 2 way traffic and close the west bound lanes for complete rebuild.

Apparently the road barriers along Bourbon Street were being replaced and were scheduled to be re-installed in February. But to miss New Year's Eve? Bad move.

To be clear, the source of this article is most definitely not an unbiased source and is skewed to present a particular sentiment. Perhaps even could be categorized as 'extreme right wing', so if anyone reads this, do remember there is another perspective .
Now Newsweek is "extreme right wing?"

To be clear, you reap what you sow.

Your link was not to Newsweek.

It was to a site called EMET Endowment for Middle East Truth. Wikipedia's listing says:

Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET) is a Washington, DC-based think tank and policy center with a pro-Israel stance that works to promote their views in media coverage of the Arab–Israeli conflict in the Middle East

And when you look at the article you linked, it is very biased in that it completely ignores the activities of Israel over the past 70 years. Further, instead of acknowledging that the majority of activists who've protested on behalf of ending the bloodshed and brutality towards the Palestinians are not Hamas supporters, the article intentionally conflates activists for Palestinians as supporters of what happened on October 7th. Yes, there have been some who have expressed that type of support, but they are not the majority.

So yes, in my opinion, extreme right wing because there is absolutely nothing balanced and fair in its reporting.

It clearly indicated the source and provided a link to the Newsweek page that first published the article.
I see what you mean, but it is a fact that your link is to a site called EMT Endowment for Middle East Truth and when you look at what that site is about, it is purely pro-Israel. That this Newsweek article is mirroring the identical bias of the EMT site, is not a surprise because in this situation that has been one of the failings of MSM, in that they continually neglect (also) to give the full picture of what led up to the events of October 7th, as well as the specificities of what Israel has done to the Palestinian civilians and are distinctly one sided in most of their reporting.

Also, Joseph Epstein, author of the article, is also the Director of Research at EMT and not on staff at Newsweek as far as I can tell. Sounds like he wrote an article that they then published and he's linking it in his organizational library in order to further it's credibility. At the same time, if you check Newsweek, they do have a couple of stories that point to Israel's continuing violations such as settler violence escalating in the West Bank, Settler violence escalates in West Bank, homes Burned so kudos to them on being a little more fair and balanced than I had initially expected.

But on the article you linked, I stand by what I said, biased and one sided.

I hate that some of you people here are apparently amused that thousands of Palestinian people are being blown to pieces and crushed or burned under bombed buildings. Why do you not care?

What?

I can't imagine any time I've said anything in support of what goes on in the Middle East these days. I avoid the topic like the plague, you're "wrong" no matter what opinion you express here.

Maybe we need to research how many Israelis have been harmed by Hamas in the past few years.
Wasn't it terrorists rocket attacks that started up this recent row. Israel is on the cuff of annihilation.
Don't they have a legal right of self-defense, self-direction as a nation. It was decided after WW 2.
Some combatants would have shot most all of them middle easterns.

Has many Middle Easterns been taking advantage of its luck since.

So damned sad, to happen when and where it did. What should have been a joyous occasion has turned into an unforgettable occasion
for so many families!

It's not that I don't care. It's just that they brought it upon themselves. They voted in Hamas, attacked Israel, refuse to give up hostages, refuse to turn in Hamas leadership, and use schools and hospitals as command centers.

Hamas has the destruction of Israel in its charter. Why do you not care?

This might seem lone wolf but apparently the financially broke killer had money to travel to Egypt, Canada, buy facebook smart glasses, rent an Airbnb, rent an electric truck ie not destitute as he portrayed himself. Other 'lone wolves' have traveled over seas including one of the Boston Bombers who went Chechnya along with if not mistaken a few other mass killers.

There is nothing wrong with being "purely pro-Israel". In Berlin (Germany) the Hamas supporting protestors gave sweets to the people after the terror attack of Hamas on October 7, 2023, which killed more than 1100 people.

By the way: It is more than remarkable that the so-called right or far-right media support Israel, while the left and far-left media support the terror organization Hamas and the Arabs, who are celebrating the attack.

He was living in what looked like a trailer or a trailer size home on a tiny lot, so he couldn't have been doing too well, financially. But, yeah, those Facebook smart glasses "start" at $300. He could have just used the camera in his phone to case the area and nobody would have given it a second thought since it's a tourist area.

It's all the travel even domestic. They said he made at least 2 trips to New Orleans prior. Throw in the international travel that's starting to rack up a bill and time needed to manage or make what ever money he had
