At Least 290 Killed In Sri Lanka From Suicide Attacks At The Sametime In Different Locations

I was reading about this a bit earlier,

Some 500 injured.

So far, 8 British, 2 Australian, 3 Danish, I think one American....up to 39 other nationals so far among the dead.

Terrorism. The suicide bombers were said to be Sri Lankans, but more than one Islamic terrorist group may be responsible.

Sickening.

I'm aghast and astounded at the numbers. Condolences to friends and family of victims and speedy recovery to survivors.

These were planned/coordinated. They actually pulled it off and that is troubling because it takes a degree of sophistication and funding. Which means they can do this just about anywhere or anytime they want. Must be some serious brainwashing in this group because to get multiple suicide bombers to go ahead without hesitation is scary.

Again condolences and rip victims.

Well coordinated for sure! I saw somewhere that there was a social media "warning" about this on April 11th but I forgot where I saw it. If true, why wasn't this addressed?

CNN- The Sri Lankan government has admitted it failed to act on multiple warnings before a coordinated series of attacks ripped through churches and hotels on Easter Sunday, and said it feared an international terror group might have been behind the atrocities.

A government spokesman, Rajitha Senaratne, reevealed that warnings were received in the days before the attacks, which killed 290 people and injured at least 500 more, including from foreign intelligence services.
He said one of the warnings referred to Nations Thawahid Jaman (NTJ), a little-known local Islamist group which has previously defaced Buddhist statues. But Senaratne, who is also health minister, said he did not believe a local group could have acted alone. "There must be a wider international network behind it," he said.

I heard that too. One report said they knew about a big attack but not where/location. That indicates international facilitation, funding etc.

As with the massacre in New Zealand, whole families have been killed...and for what? Are they trying to provoke a Muslim/Christian war? At least some of those responsible have been arrested. They deserve no mercy.

Another good reason to stay Far Away from many of these 3rd world sites/nations. Religious radicals have no conscience, and their warped views make them think they will go to Heaven by killing those of other beliefs. If just 1% of these populations believe this nonsense, that puts 10's of thousands of lunatics on the streets.

ISIS has claimed responsibility. First time in awhile I've heard they are at it again. All those people lost their lives...terrible shame.

I think the reason you have given is very close to the mark, Rosemarie.
Apparently it is not unheard of for Singalese Buddhists to attack Muslims or Sikhs hoping to blame Tamils for the violence.

The Christchurch murderer certainly hoped that the Muslims would return violence with vengeance but it didn't work in NZ. Jacinda Ahern's comforting of the worshippers put paid to that.

I don't personally think that Colombo terrorism is the result of the NZ mosque murders. This latest attack needed more time than that to organise. ISIS may be displaced from Syria but the will certainly take revenge elsewhere, wherever and whenever they get an opportunity. They are far from finished. Only the Caliphate has been reduced to rubble, not the zealots.
