BamI'll let you know when I reach that age.
I once worked with a woman in 1984 who was in the market to buy a new car. Her previous car she had purchased new in '79 or '80, had developed many serious mechanical problems. She had never changed the oil--EVER. She said she'd add a quart when it got low. After getting over my initial shock, I was amazed that it still ran at all.I thought you meant, How old does my car have to be before I stop taking it in for an oil change. Never mind....
Yep, I've had too many problems after taking vehicles in for oil changes that I no longer trust anyone else to do it. But at least with the new synthetic oil, you only have to change your oil every five years or so, if that, since it doesn't break down like the old oils.I still change my oil and filters. The last time I had it changed....years ago....the mechanic didn't tighten the oil pan bolt properly, and I had a quart of oil on the garage floor the next morning. Had I been driving very far, I would have been stranded with a blown engine.
Same here.Probably been 30 years since I last changed my oil, in a car. The jiffy lube places are just to easy.
Still do occasionally in other engines, my lawnmower for example.
That's what I did without the gravel and hole. I figured I was just putting the oil back into the ground where it came from in the first place.Wonder if anyone still uses the Popular Science method of 1963 for disposal ?
