At What Stage In Your Life Came Your Luckiest Break

Mine came leaving a job that I grew to dislike. I was looking to leave when I was "laid off", fired is better word. From that point on everything went my way for opportunities and success in my career.

In my personal life, it was in June of 1986 when a handsome green-eyed guy walked into my office for a meeting. We married the following year.

Professionally, it was an out-of-state transfer in 1990 that put me in the right place at the right time to advance my career substantially.

Probably 2 things.....1. when I joined the USAF after high school, and they gave me an excellent education in electronics which led to an excellent lifelong career fixing big computers....And 2, when I met my wife in Germany, and we will be celebrating our 53rd anniversary in a couple of months.

Without a doubt, the evening I met my wife, for the first time "eye-to-eye" at a Denny's. I had placed a Personal Ad in a local magazine and she answered it. We decided to meet at the Denny's across from where I lived. That was in March of 2000. Ever since then, absolutely beautiful, absolutely!

The second "luckiest" was when I got my last job as a Materials Coordinator for a healthcare company. Had my own office, computer and phone. Best paying job I'd ever had, unfortunately it took me many, many years to get that pay. I had learned quite a bit of Purchasing and Inventory Control from a few other jobs I'd had, but learned even more from that Materials Coordinator job. And, had the best Supervisor/Director I ever had.

After nearly finishing grad school in sociology, I decided to not pursue a career in it. After going to night school to take intro courses in a new, little-known field called 'data processing', I found it to be pretty easy (while the intro classes had 50%+ drop out rates). I was able to pass testing and started a new career in what we now call IT. The first company to hire me, without a degree in the field was the 'lucky break'.

Of course, marrying DW was probably better.....:playful:

In 1982,I,volunteered for 1 yr and half 3 days/wk in pharmacy dept until I was offered a part time job as a pharm tech. I stayed for 27yrs,the longest time in any of my previous jobs
I had a wonderful mentor,Evelyn, the senior tech, who taught me everything I needed to know in the job.She was my mentor/surrogate mom/friend.We worked side by side for 23 yrs until she retired in 2008. I was lost when she left because everything changed,I stayed for 3 more yrs until I had enough Sue

.

Thank God, after a string of going nowhere jobs... at age 29 I began my corporate job career which enabled me as a single mom to live comfortably, save money, buy a home and retire early at age 55.

Married a gal who was starting at IBM, Austin. Moved with her, from Chicago, placed an ad in the Austin newspaper looking for musicians to start a band. Found amazing people, after a few turnovers, and then made a great living doing what I loved, for the next twenty years. My luckiest break, then, came when I married a woman, and that marriage led to my moving to Austin, TX. That marriage was, in itself, definitely NOT my luckiest break. :kiss-tongue:

With out a doubt my luckiest break came when I was 15 yrs old and invited to go out with a friend and her friends.. As soon as I got there she introduced me to a friend of hers, and we fell in love at first sight. We are married 52yrs now have 2 children and 3 grandchildren and I love him even more now.

The day I met my late wife, after 14 years of a bad marriage to another. We married, spent almost 47 years together and she passed 1/30 of this year. I will never stop loving her.
