August 2020, Tell US about YOUR day...

Saturday, we brought in anything that might blow away. Although the hurricane has been downgraded, need to be prepared anyway. Sunday, watching the sky darken, winds picking up and rain off and on. Tonight and tomorrow is our bad days as this weather goes up the coast. Looks like we dodged the main bullet on this one.

We will get some rain from the hurricane, but at this point it doesn't look like the strong winds will come this far inland.
You take care my friend. I have been in a couple of these things and they are not fun. The first one can be "interesting" but the get old in a hurry and the damage is often staggering.
So "batted down the hatches" and play it safe.

Nice sunny day here today to we set of for The Wirrall - a peninsular just south of Liverpool. The plan was to stop at three places.

First stop was New Brighton and the famour Perch Rock Lighthouse. Lots of people about but just about managed to keep a reasonable distance away. We ate a very nice lunch at a Turkish restaurant then headed for stop two which was West Kirby, a nice place but so crowded that there were no parking spaces available. On to stop three - a lovely little Victorian sea front without any sea as the Dee channel moved across the estuary a long time ago. Again so crowded that there were no parking spaces available. So a Plan B approach took us to Port Sunlight, a peaceful village founded by a Victorian-era entrepreneur to house his factory workers. Not many folk about and car parking a-plenty - Result!

I'll stick some photos up in the Photography section once I've processed them :)

It's coming up to Spring in Australia, so I decided to get a head start on my Spring cleaning.

Took down the curtains in one bedroom and gave them a wash. It's a lovely sunny day, with a brisk breeze, so they'll dry well fairly quickly.

I'll leave the rehanging of them until tomorrow.

After spending all day at Sonny's house, where he grilled spiedies and potatoes for our dinner on Saturday, yesterday I spent the day working on my family tree. Relaxing and quiet.

Today, is my errand day, though I really only have three places to go. The post office for money orders for my son's and my own rent. His credit union for cash so I can give him some spending and grocery money. One of the stores to pick up some heavy cream.

I have started buying my groceries before the day everyone gets their checks and food stamps. That is working on really good for me. I just can't stand the crowded stores.

If we had a hurricane, I didn’t see or hear The wind gusted a few times, but the beans and franks I had for supper were bustier than what we had. It might have blown during the night as some dead fronds from the palm trees were laying around.
So I guess we dodged the bullet on this one, thank the Lord.

Today, Dunkin is having a free coffee day, so I guess I know where mama wants to go.☕

This morning on my early walk around 6:45,was refreshingly cool, temps in mid 60's
On my way back saw a few tree limbs on the ground, last night we had some strong winds/rain blow thru WNY
This morning which is my only structure day of the week, calling Canopy of Neighbors members to see how they are.I've been calling from home since March 6th,have no idea when the office will re open, its located in back of local Jewish Temple. They haven't re open either, its a waiting game
I usually take a mid morning walk after I talk with members,no others plans except read NYT while I eat lunch. After dinner, tackle the NYT daily crossword puzzle

I took all the wooden patio furniture.. table and chairs, and painted them all down with Linseed Oil.. back breaking job, but I wanted to get it done before we hit the next heatwave of almost 100 deg temps later this week.. I stave off the monotony of it by wearing my headphones and listening to a favourite blog or interview while I'm working

I've also got the laundry and bed changes done this morning

Just now I took the mower out of the shed, to brush it down of excess grass after mowing, and stood on an ants nest on the lawn... within seconds my whole legs were covered in black ants so I had to find the nest and get ant powder down there. I hate ants !!

Hubs is in the barn fixing up some new central fluorescent lighting, and making a new outdoor sockets for the water features in the garden ..it's much cooler today than it has been for a while so it's less exhausting to work outside..

I've just got to check the oil and water in my car , and get the laundry put away and I think I can have a rest for the day :giggle:☕

I think a rest is certainly in order for you..

It was quite a bit cooler here this morning, so I got in a nice walk. At this time of year, I generally have to workout inside. There was also some litter to be picked up from the hurricane which skirted our area.

Daisy our ten month old puppy, was spayed today and we will be picking her up in about half and hour. My wife teared up when we dropped her off at the vet, and our old older Bichon has been alternating between fretting over the absence of "her baby", and enjoying some peace and quiet.

Kisses to Daisy. 🌹

The rest of my ingredients came to make my lotion this morning. I made it and love it. Works great. Just what I wanted.

Cleaned my apartment and made room to see if I could fit a recliner. I can. Sonny is taking me to look at them on Thursday.

My son stopped over for a little bit and to pick up his new phone. I gave him a almost new percolator and he was really happy. Maybe his coffee maker broke and he didn't tell me. Not sure how he was getting coffee.

Just quiet here. Going to watch more of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I have seen the whole series about 3 or 4 times. Just waiting for the new season to start.

Good Evening All... Or is it Goodnight? Whatever it is, G'day...
Well, it wasn't a good day... Going to have to make a decision about Carl in the next few days, think the Lyme disease is getting to him like his brother last September... We are going to keep a close eye on him in the next few days... Plus we have the Portuguese water dogs coming tomorrow afternoon till Sunday... We now know what we are looking for from going through it with Lennie, and I will not let the disease get Carl that far... He and his brother were great pups for us, and Lennie lived to 12... and Carl is 13 now... and when we got them at 5 weeks old, we were told their breeds would not go past 10... I have never had two perfect pups like these two... But for now, he is still with us...

What did I do today... sandblasted and sanded my old trailer, so I can get it painted and hopefully sold... Then I can begin building my new one...

Well, friends, I hope YOU are all keeping safe... God Bless

Kisses to Daisy. 🌹
Daisy had a rough night, but is doing much better today. For the next 10 days she will have to take it easy and refrain from the intense play that she enjoys. Coming home in pain and all doped up isn't fun for anyone, and if I "spoke dog" I would explain it to her.

She raised her head in acknowledge when I told that her that her distant "doggie godmother" sent her some kisses.

Today it's been warm upper 70's F but not too hot... we've cut back some more tree branches and relocated the bird feeder from where they've always lived in the old elder trees, to the other side of the garden onto an old Holly Tree where the pigeons roost, and where we have the small birds nesting boxes already situated high in the branches for the last few years..

The patio chairs and table that I oiled yesterday with Linseed look glossy and moisturised today...

Hubs filled some cracks in the paths which have appeared in the last few weeks with a resin and cement mix.. and I checked the oil/coolant/water in my car which I didn't get around to doing yesterday . Trying to get as much maintenance done around the place before he returns to work

Made lunch ..chicken and ham pot pie for me..and vegan steak burgers with onions and cheese for hubs, .. , and last of all I watered all the flowers, and shrubs and turned the sprinklers on the lawns

later this evening I searched online for some new office furniture, took ages to find exactly what I want, but finally found it, so hopefully we can get that arranged to be delivered soon..

that's been my day.. so now at almost 8,30 pm I'm going to make dinner.. ..Baked spuds...

When I took my early walk this morning around 6:20,wore a light sweatshirt for the 1st time this summer, was a tad cool 57.After I came back from buying Bflo News&USAToday, watered the plants/flowers in our community garden
Around 10,my friend Thora&I went grocery shopping at local TOPS. This location had just completed a renovation of the entire store. We like the changes, more accessible to find items we're looking for.
After lunch&nap walked to local bank, was happy to see lobby has now reopened.I prefer doing my banking this way.I use ATM to deposit cks which doesn't happen often

It's looking like a nice day here in the NW of England.

The plan is to head North from here to Wensleydaye in Yorkshire.

A visit to a few of my favourite waterfalls then onto the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes with its cheese factory and visitor centre. No doubt our cheese supplies will be well stocked up! Later on in the afternoon we'll be at Ribblehead Viaduct to see and photograph a steam train that's due across on a railtour called "The Cumbrian Mountain Express", along the famous Settle to Carlisle railway.

Yesterday it was in the upper 90's.. we drove over to the canal to where our boat is moored and ensured all was well there, and stopped off for a cold drink at the canal-side bar with some long time friends ..

Then, later into the nearest town centre just hubs and I, and I bought 2 , 4 wheel spinner suitcases in the closing down Laura Ashley 70 % off sale, reduced from £149 to just £29 each... one hard shell, the other a larger soft-top both reduced from and to the same price...

Then to our favourite coffee bar, to have drinks...
