In an apartment that my mother lived in as a little kid, which my grandfather took care of, there was a gangster called Tough Tony Anastasia. This was, as I recall her saying, the Bronx. There was rarely any trouble in their building, and if there was, the perpetrator was never seen again. True story.

Trax, you just put yourself on Marg's hit lits. It may take her a while to get to NY. but she is probably gassing up the car now.
Run, run up to those thick forest in Maine and stay there.

Hey jo I am back home. The closest I got to Maine was New Haven Connecticut to see the old electric maintainer and switch crew and the new station, everybody has retired but the station was spectacular. On the return trip I got more depressed as the train got closer to HELL on Earth. Stinky was catatonic and the day I got my first vaccination I pretty much had enough, packed her up and flew back to the world. The few people I did know who were still in the trenches all had that far away look in their eyes. Some haven't been home in weeks. Like 9/11 if we survive this global tragic horror there will be books written about what is really going on that non disclosure has everybody so paranoid. I still love NYC but I am never going back there. Take care my good friend and stay safe.

If she were in the Bronx it might have been around Arthur Avenue just South of Fordham Road about two or three blocks West of Fordham College. Between the local goombahs on the Avenue and the FDNY fire marshals working out of a temporary trailer at Fordham Road and Arthur Avenue down to Tremont Avenue on the Harlem line there was zero crime in that area. The dirtbags knew better. In the early 1980+ Conrail days If you were Working the Wakefield cutoff just North of Woodlawn Tower the jitney drivers would get pizzas from Arthur Avenue at night. No beer in the tower but cold Pepsi was a good substitute. The good ole dayz. Take care my friend.

I wouldn't know since she didn't say where the apartment was located and I am not really familiar with the city. I was born in Queens, but we moved to California when I was going into first or second grade. The situation she was talking about would have been probably in the 1930s.
