I take 1000mcg or 1200 if on sale per day but read somewhere that max amount per week is 5000mcg and it can have skin and other side effects
I cannot find the page where I read it and would like some feedback from you clever senior peeps...
.

I take Nature Made Super B-Complex, the B-12 amount is 15mcg, which is 625% of the Daily Value.

Years ago I was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy and read that large doses of B-12 might help. I was taking 5000 mcg daily for about six months. Can't really say there was any improvement with the PN.

"Does bromelain help neuropathy?

"Conclusions. This study suggest that bromelain mitigated neuropathic pain by enhancing the activities of nuclear transcription factors (NrF-1 and NrF-2) which increases the antioxidant defense system that abolish neuronal stress and structural disorganization.Jan 1, 2020

Usually the "side effects" of any vitamin is better health, if /when balanced with all overall nutrition.
To get the best results from b12, I would take a b50 daily, and never worry btw about a missed one or taking too many. Read up on this as you find time.

"Is bromelain anti-inflammatory?
Bromelain is widely administered for its well-recognized properties, such as its anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic and fibrinolytic affects, anticancer activity and immunomodulatory effects, in addition to being a wound healing and circulatory improvement agent.Jul 18, 2016

Continued efforts to block access to health , to ban b12 and other helpful things >

https://anh-usa.org/b12-shots-banned/
"For these reasons, blocking access to this important medicine will have an adverse effect on patient health. Here is a list of other substances that could be banned in California:

  • Glutathione, the body’s most important antioxidant;
  • Alpha lipoic acid (another important antioxidant);
  • Glucosamine (helpful for osteoarthritis)
  • MSM (helpful for joints, detoxification, and potential for protection against cancer);
  • Curcumin (tremendously anti-inflammatory with so many health benefits it would take a book to list them all);
  • CoQ10 (an antioxidant that the body produces naturally and that cells use for growth and maintenance);
  • Acetyl-l-carnitine (functions as an antioxidant, and promotes the production of glutathione in cells);
  • Citrulline (an amino acid compounded for pediatric patients with metabolic disorders)."

Now I am wondering if I should take B complex instead.
Seems it has less B12 but also from what I have read it is enough unless B12 is seriously deficient. I cannot get a really satisfactory reply from my family doctor in that respect when I am lucky enough to see him. I don't get the regular blood work checkups as in the past
Ageism kicking in again.:(

In a sci-fi show, I just saw someone get a B-12 shot for exhaustion and fatigue. I decided to look into that, and promptly forgot! Thanks for the reminder!

with my pimple problems that end up nasty I am thinking I should try the B complex

Gee, now I'm worried I take too much B12. I take 2000 mcg daily plus whatever is in the multivitamin that I take. I had felt terribly weak in my legs a few years ago, sometimes I had to just sit down on the floor they were so weak. I'd gone to the doctor and they'd done heart stress tests but everything was okay.
So they prescribed a heartburn medicine because also that stomach spincter muscle was being weak sometimes, like I'd bend over and stomach contents would push right up my throat. Also the other end had some weakness episodes but I didn't mention that to the doctor (too embarrassing).
The antacid drug didn't do anything at all except cause headaches.
So I stopped taking the antacid, and started researching on my own. I increased salt and it seemed to help a little, then I started taking B12 and that seemed to help a lot but things weren't perfect, there was still some mild weakness. Then the dental hygienist told me that B12 plus Iron had helped her mother's weakness. So I added a little iron, and since then things have been almost always back to normal.
I changed doctors and told the new doctor that I was taking 2000 b12, and he did a blood test for B12. I had plenty in my blood, but he said to keep taking the B12, so I guess he felt the level was okay.
Maybe I'll try tapering off to 1000 mcg.

You might research Vitamin A also. When I was young I had bad acne and it went away when I took vitamin A (I'd read in a nutrition book that it is a good vitamin for the skin).
