Back From The Hospital

I have had Atrial Fib for 27 years. Early last Monday I called 911 because my heart rate at 175 BPM was the highest it has ever gone. No Pain or anything, just felt like crap. I was taken to the ER
and some four hours later they tried Cardio Conversion (Electric Shock) twice and I didn't convert. I spent four nights last week in hospital finally converted on a IV drip of Amiadarone and went home feeling super. Two days ago the A FIB kicked in again with my heart rate only 135 BPM and didn't feel bad. I called my doc and asked what to do and he said go to ER and I will call them and let them know you are coming and please Lon don't take UBER call the ambulance. I did and in the late afternoon they once again gave me the electrocution procedure and I immediately converted but still had to stay in hospital over night with another IV Drip. After a nice hospital breky I was home before lunch once again feeling super. As I sit here now my blood pressure is 125/60 and pulse is a nice steady 60. If the Amiadarone pills that I now will be taking don't keep me in normal rythm then I will probably need another ABLATION or Pacemaker.
Given the age of this Forums people it's more than likely that someone reading this post has AFIB or has a family member with it. No one dies from AFIB it's self, but it can sure periodically disrupt your life. BTW ---The food, nurses, doctors were great but laying at night on wires, tubes, hoses etc. won't help your sleep.

Glad you got through all of that, and are back home.

The food, nurses, doctors were great

The food? you actually had real food? And it was great?

Ya'll have alot better health care there, up North!

Hope the medicine helps and you can avoid another serious event like this Lon. Please take care, glad the food and medical staff were good.

I had undiagnosed atrial flutter for years. It would cause indigestion. But I didn't know it at the time. After years of fooling around there was a doctor who diagnosed it and prescribed medication.

Haven't had it for a few years but I sure know what you went through. The feeling crappy part of it is hard to describe.

Glad you made home.

A new as in replacement pacemaker or the first one? Be careful with pacemakers because I know people who haven't slept right since they got theirs. There's also play in the settings/ heart beats per minute. For some 60 beats per minute is too fast. Also keep the pill count as low as possible. I know another person who had a pacemaker which expanded to multiple heart medications in combination with other stuff. Long story short they had two cut 2 DOZEN pills a day to one dozen after they developed kidney problems.

Less is better.

Good Luck,
