Backup generator........

It sounds like a whole house, "auto run" generator might be worth looking at, if you have had that many outages. Around here, the Generac brand is probably the most common, and best rated. You would need to have an electrician install a "transfer box" to your house wiring, and your local gas company could fairly easily install a Natural Gas line to the generator....and then, you would hardly notice any power outages.

Check out the big "Home" Stores....Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.....you could probably get a good estimate from them....my guess would be the price of the generator, plus around $1000 for the parts and labor for the xfer box and gas line.

Appreciate the information/ideas.

As per a few commercials I have seen, there are companies that will do the whole job. A few of those were noted in my on-line search.

How much gas did you use per day? Just curious.

The Honda 2000 ran approx. 6-7 hrs (night time) a day
Less than a gal
I say 'less than' because I never had to refill of an evening, and it's capacity is 1 gal

The next morn, I'd pour in approx. 3/4 gal to fill

I have 2, both are about 4000 w, not hard on gas and will run most of the house. EXCLUDING electric stoves . Nothing 220 runs with the power out. Decent machines and have run several with power outages up here last a month or better a few times.
Think the two of them cost me 700.00 dollars.

Well, let's call this a sales-pitch day ...... A storm came through about 5:30 this afternoon ..... power went out about 15 minutes later. Was out for 3 hours + .... Just came back on.
