I feel quite fortunate
It's only been since May 1

....and it's greatly cessated (I just invented a word).

However, there's an eternal itch in my right eardrum of which requires a Dremel tool flap wheel to be jammed into that hoary hole, and set on high.

My old boss connected me with a guy I used to work with.
He's just now experiencing the initial sensations of shingles.
Same place, right side of head.
Thought I might clue him in on what to expect.
He's quite religious.

So, I asked him...Whud you do to piss god off?

Never knew him to use so many swear words

Sometimes bad things happen to people because they have made a long series of poor decisions and have no resources to deal with it. But sometimes it just happens, so it's important to be ready for anything.

In this week's news it's been reported that , a 2 week old baby has been raped... no poor decisions there, and no possible way for that poor broken little mite to be ''ready for anything''...
 
Bad things happen to people because .... as a society we have collectively decided that there are polar opposites. The things that don’t cause us unbearable pain are labelled as good and things that cause us pain are labelled as bad. It’s a way for us to understand our world and environment better.

Well, bless your heart. To be clear, I was referring to ADULTS, not children, who are notorious for bad decisions, and certainly not infants, who can make no decisions whatsoever. But whatevs.
 
"Bad" and "good" are, most of the time, too subjective and general to have any meaning.

Yes, some things are just plain bad, period. The rape of the baby mentioned above is one example. But most things are too complicated to be labeled as bad or good. Example:

You manage to get a job interview scheduled for your dream job. (Good)

You don't know how to get to the office for the interview. (Bad)

You get in your car and the GPS kicks in with directions. (Good)

Halfway there, your car sputters to a stop. (Bad)

You find a nearby mechanic. (Good)

He says he can't get around to fixing your car until next week. (Bad)

A kind stranger offers to give you a lift. (Good)

He turns out to be an axe murderer. (Bad)

And so on.
