Another one... few details at this point.

Baltimore shooting: Two dead and 28 injured in mass casualty event, police say

Baltimore is a troubled city with a lot of shootings. It has become more like a little Chicago or Philadelphia. I am a little surprised that this happened in the Brooklyn area, which is rich in history. This is where Fort McHenry is located and where Francis Scott Key wrote the "Star Spangled Banner." The Orioles and the Ravens stadiums are both located there as well. The two stadiums are kind of like back to back.

There are generally a lot of people down there in that area, especially on weekends when many tourists visit the Inner Harbor, which has many gift and boutique shops, along with restaurants and is located right against the Chesapeake Bay. My favorite restaurant is Phillips Seafood where I like to get a bucket of Blue Crabs and salad or corn on the cob. The crabs are great when made with beer and Old Bay seasoning. The National Aquarium is also located there.

10 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods in Baltimore 2023: In the Shadow of Danger

As per FBI reports, neighborhoods like Cherry Hill, West Baltimore, Greenmount East, Fairfield Area, and Pulaski top the list of Baltimore’s most perilous neighborhoods. These areas regularly show a high per capita rate for both violent and property crimes, rating from 297-711% higher than the national violence average. Other districts that might be worth avoiding include Brooklyn-Curtis Bay, Madison-Eastend, and Greater Rosemont.

One of things I notice about these shootings at public gatherings when/if they arrest the murderers it's rarely headline news. Start making an example of a murderers who kill and don't care they also killed innocents not involved in their world. Their peers need to see what happens to a captured murderer.

Today and tomorrow this will be headlines, if they arrest the perp by the end of the week it will get a mention on local news. I rarely see follow up on these shootings.

Thanks, I had forgotten about the Brooklyn neighborhood.

Back in the 80s when I briefly lived in the area I looked at a historic house there, and almost made an offer on it. Then decided to move to California. At that time I knew anything in Baltimore could be dangerous, but that neighborhood looked fine...

I live about 50 miles N of Baltimore, so I spend a fair amount of time down there the Ravens and Orioles games and Inner Harbor. I also use BWI to fly in and out of, instead of Harrisburg because I can get more direct flights out of BWI.

There were three mass shootings this weekend! Add Chicago & Wichita, Kansas.

The three shootings are covered here:

I could not believe it when I saw a travel ad for Baltimore on TV a couple of days before the shooting! It's one of the most dangerous cities in the country.
My heart goes out to the victims and families of those who were killed. I literally pray for comfort and justice for all affected by these senseless tragedies. 😪

1st arrest made a 17 year believed to be involved in the shooting. Charged on illegal weapons charges and lawyer says he was wounded during the shooting himself.

Also came out that was a video online taken at the event before the shooting where the suspect might be the person who pulled a weapon out of a book bag and brandished it. (Stop, right there a weapon was brandished before the shooting. How come police weren't caught right then and there especially since Baltimore is a gun control city)

I don't know whether it's the right call or not, but I think I remember reading that they do it intentionally. Many shooters want to make headlines and be famous, and then it inspires copycat acts. Some news agencies don't want to give them the headlines they seek and be a part of that twisted narrative. I get the anger you are feeling, but just sharing what I remember hearing.

Problem is you don't want to create an air of mystery like they are video game character or something. The world needs to see what cowards they really are. They shouldn't even be called 'the shooter' if they kill people-they are murderers or killers. Again shooter makes it seem like a video game.

Especially with these gang related killings. They are criminals. They were criminals before the killing spree. Lets see these what these killers look and act like in a straight forward prison interview rather than social media post wearing the latest fashion, jewelry, hair style with music in the background. How 'cool' are they then?

Again, I get your anger. I feel it too. I was just referencing what I heard.
