Bed Bugs In North East Becoming More Resistant To Common Pesticides.

I know someone who had a problem with bedbugs (you can pick them up in a hotel room and they get in your suitcase, or someone who has picked them up somewhere can come into your home and leave some behind) and it was a monumental effort to get rid of them, involving dangerous pesticides and much throwing away of furniture. Most pesticides do not work on them at all -- never did. Bedbugs are a VERY big deal.

Not that I know of, unless you are allergic to them. But they cause painful itchy bites, and once they are in your furniture or bedding or clothing they proliferate like mad -- they get in your carpet, in your walls, everywhere, and pretty soon you are covered with nasty red bites.

Stuff that kills normal bugs like cockroaches doesn't even touch them. It almost always requires a professional exterminator to get rid of them and it's a very expensive proposition.

Some people have even complained of them in my town. Primarily in lower end apartments. Exterminators always called in iimmediately. So far, there have been isolated incidents. I believe all second hand stores have been fumigated just to be safe.

I just read this and thought I was still on the Swedish asylum thread ...

Whoa.

I thought "exterminators" was slang for the paras ...
