Being Cheated Out Of One Second

When someone tells you that they'll give you 3 seconds to do something or to stop doing something, they'll immediately say:

ONE,..... then TWO,..... then THREE.

You're only getting TWO SECONDS, between ONE and TWO, and between TWO and THREE.

See?

To give you the promised three seconds, they should start with "ZERO", or "START". Then ONE, TWO, and THREE.

Then you'll get your three seconds!

I thought about this all night. Couldn't sleep.

And your math is a bit off.

When they say 'three' you are getting another second. It takes a second to say three.

So if they said Zero One Two Three you would start at one and end at three and you would be getting three seconds.

It doesn't stop at the end of Two.

Go back and read my first post of this thread.

At the count of THREE you've only used TWO seconds of time.

The FIRST second takes you from ONE to TWO.

The SECOND second takes you from TWO to THREE...get it?

If the jerk who started the count would have started at ZERO, then you would get your full three seconds.....understand?

Get a stop watch out. That's what I had to do.

Start counting. One, two, three.

Guaranteed. 3 seconds are used up. Science. Not Math.

You aren't counting the intervals on paper. They take time.

For me 3.08 seconds elapsed. A guy with a southern drawl? Maybe 5 seconds.

No no no, the first second takes you from zero to one! He has to take a breath before he starts counting, which is your first second.

Sort of like the same reason we're living in the 21st century, even though the date starts with 20.
 
Of course you don't start out with one.

You start out with a warning. That's what you posted.

I'll give you three seconds which takes up about 2 seconds and then one, two, three.

Time elapsed 5 seconds. 2 for the warning and 3.08 seconds for the count. I timed it. Science.

Does those nice people agree with you.? I'm betting they don't care.

This is important. How can society function when we are getting gypped out of a second.
