Bible Study is Needed HERE!

Why do people who hate God and everything that has to do with Christianity often jump into threads about it and begin to spread their hatred? They obviously are not invited, according to the posts' titles and purposes, but they come in and begin to pollute the conversations between people who desire to learn, grow and enjoy Christian fellowship.

Sometimes they act like trolls, pretending to be interested but they don't offer anything constructive, just destruction. And unlike YTube, we can't delete them. That's one of the major reasons that I think it wouldn't work. And I rarely see Christians going into any Pagan or Atheist threads to wreak havoc through hatred. That's probably one of the reasons that they go merrily along for some time. 😯
I don't think they do that here. In the atheist thread they're quite respectful.

If you want trolls go to christian forums. They are hilarious at times. I once had a dream when I posted there with all these trolls. People there kept saying: Don't feed the trolls. I had a dream then that I was in a cafe with a troll and he was so hungry that I gave him my hamburger LOL.

Here, I'll start...

Exodus 20:16
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Proverbs 12:22
The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.

John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Ephesians 4:25
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

Let’s let Mitch start the Bible study since it was HIS idea . Plus most people agree that it should stay off the forum. I don’t think we are hiding if we choose to use the PM system.

Maybe this thread here will end up like those other threads. If others want to start a Bible study maybe someone interested should start a private pm. People can be added later on.
Anyone want to start a private pm Bible study group?

I am going to step out on the limb and suggest something.
To avoid confusion and keep things focused on the study material
may I suggest keeping all posts to - our own words only.
No videos, no Google or AI pastes. All our own words our own thoughts?
We can vote if you like.

Maybe because so much evil in the world rises out of religious fanaticism.

Christianity is the enabler of people who cause so much pain and suffering in the world today, so why shouldn't people be critical of it? Jesus would be highly critical of many of his followers if he were alive today.

That said, I like the current Pope. He speaks out against the wrongs going on in the world -- even if it's not politically expedient for him to do so.

I think that Mitch should consider getting things in motion,
if it takes off that is nice, and if not, that is the way it is.

Mostly, I will be reading the topic threads and enjoying things
that way. It is what I already do, and it suits me well. I much like
to partake just through reading.

I don't think that's going out on a limb at all... I was thinking the same.
If something does get started via PM group, my vote would be discussion only.

If you guys don't mind my input, I don't see why you can't have an open bible study on this thread. Most people here are pretty decent about respecting the boundaries of a thread, if asked. I've had a little (very little, really) trouble with my Pagan thread, but when asked, the peeps concerned were great about understanding my intent for that thread.

I can't imagine people will openly attack and harangue this thread if directly asked not to. I mean, I would hope not.

When I was Christian I really enjoyed bible study and I would like to think you can have that here if you want it and others will respect that. I certainly will. ā¤ļø

I don't know who this is. Youtube recommended it. He says: This world does not want to hear what you have to say if you don't have love. Because your God says: Without this love all you're going to be to them is an irritating noise.

1 Corinthians 13
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Actually that came from Paul..

Bible study isn't necessarily a Christian activity. Interesting how that has become the presumption throughout this thread.

I don't mind religious threads on SF as long as it's as fully inclusive as all other SF threads, meaning others are welcome to express opinions.

Indeed, if a Christian thread appears, it would be equally good to see Islamic, Jewish and Buddhist threads. I don't know a single person who couldn't benefit from having greater love, tolerance and understanding for everyone, regardless of their religion.

Since this is an open forum, I think any topic should expect some controversy. I don’t see why those who are interested in the proposed bible study group can’t participate but at the same time, should expect diverse or contradictory comments from others who are not there to spread hate, but to genuinely acquire a different perspective from the one they may have. I don’t see anything wrong with a good debate as long as it’s kept civil and doesn’t undermine someone’s beliefs. Go for it Mitch.

Since this has been chosen as a Bible Study how do you study the Bible with religions that do not use the Bible? Won't you have to also
include their Books as well to have inclusion? Wouldn't that be counterproductive to the goal of it and confusing at the same time?
I am trying to understand.

As the OP said he'd like it to be about 'Bible Study,' why should there be ANY 'debate'?

Jews also study the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, but most faithful Jews are quite well-versed in the NT, as well.

So basically what I am understanding is :
If it is posted as a forum thread, it needs to be all inclusive, be prepared for debate and expect some controversary.
or
A PM group and study with viewing how we each understand the posting of that day with no debate or controversay

These are the choices right?
