Bible Study is Needed HERE!

I agree that it would be nice to have, Mitch, but I seriously don't think it would work. One reason would be that everyone would be different denominations, or at least would interpret scripture differently. Normally that would be fine, but I think it would probably lead to discord here.

Secondly, we have a number of atheists and other belief & non-belief systems here, so I think a devoted thread for Bible study probably wouldn't get too far out of the starting gate without disaster status.

A group of us here could start a Bible Study. We could post some verses and others could then comment. We could start with Genesis and end with Revelation. Is anyone here interested in a Bible Study?
@Mitch86 , here's two threads that you already started- take the lead and make the threads grow:

I really don't understand why it would be a disaster. We have had threads about other religions. Right now there's one about Paganism that's gone merrily along for some time and there's another one going strong about Atheism. Why is Christianity the only religion we can't touch?

I see by Nathan's post that Mitch did try to start other threads. Right off the bat, if this had received more interest, I was going to suggest we start with Matthew or any other New Testament book. The Old Testament is just too much to take on in this format.

I don't think it will be a problem. It's not a faith forum. People here are kind and don't come to fight. The atheists here are super sweet. I'm used to these christian beat each other up with the Bible forums. This place is an oasis.

It doesn't have to be a Bible study like in church. We can just read it and talk about it.

I can see a regular post of it becoming a train wreck at some point.

A Bible study done in open forum WOULD be a total train wreck.

While I would welcome it, I agree with these comments. I believe that before long, it would degrade because of a lack of consideration and compassion in some comments. Also, people who hate Christianity and anything that has to do with God often jump into threads about it in order to spread their hatred.

Yes, Daily, that would happen. There has been mockery of Christianity here in threads having nothing to do with religion... calling it a "fairy tale"... mocking Jesus. I seriously don't want to deal with that and we shouldn't have to.

Why do people who hate God and everything that has to do with Christianity often jump into threads about it and begin to spread their hatred? They obviously are not invited, according to the posts' titles and purposes, but they come in and begin to pollute the conversations between people who desire to learn, grow and enjoy Christian fellowship.

Sometimes they act like trolls, pretending to be interested but they don't offer anything constructive, just destruction. And unlike YTube, we can't delete them. That's one of the major reasons that I think it wouldn't work. And I rarely see Christians going into any Pagan or Atheist threads to wreak havoc through hatred. That's probably one of the reasons that they go merrily along for some time. 😯

Yes I don't think the O.T. is a good idea. I've never even read it all. Always stopped in Leviticus with all these laws. I posted the next couple of texts in his other thread from Matthew.

Even just reading it is a great idea. The ones who are interested can post the next verses or a comment.

Well count me out then. I don't even know what a PM chat is and if we have to go underground like it's something to be ashamed of then I'll skip it.

Please don't lump all non Christians in the hate or troll category. If a thread is started, you definitely will not see me post in there, most likely would not even read the posts.
I've even stayed out of the Atheist thread.
I see nothing wrong if @Mitch86 wanted to start up a new thread or continue with the ones that he already has on the go. 😊🤗
