Bible Study is Needed HERE!

A group of us here could start a Bible Study. We could post some verses and others could then comment. We could start with Genesis and end with Revelation. Is anyone here interested in a Bible Study?

I agree that it would be nice to have, Mitch, but I seriously don't think it would work. One reason would be that everyone would be different denominations, or at least would interpret scripture differently. Normally that would be fine, but I think it would probably lead to discord here.

Secondly, we have a number of atheists and other belief & non-belief systems here, so I think a devoted thread for Bible study probably wouldn't get too far out of the starting gate without disaster status.
The atheists already have a thread going. No ones going to make them participate.

Why do people who hate God and everything that has to do with Christianity often jump into threads about it and begin to spread their hatred? They obviously are not invited, according to the posts' titles and purposes, but they come in and begin to pollute the conversations between people who desire to learn, grow and enjoy Christian fellowship.

Sometimes they act like trolls, pretending to be interested but they don't offer anything constructive, just destruction. And unlike YTube, we can't delete them. That's one of the major reasons that I think it wouldn't work. And I rarely see Christians going into any Pagan or Atheist threads to wreak havoc through hatred. That's probably one of the reasons that they go merrily along for some time. 😯
Agreed

I don't see why not. We have threads on Atheism, Paganism, etc...If one was started, no one is obligated to participate or even read the thread if it is of no interest to them.
Yes... but Mitch is not suggesting a thread on religion or Christianity in particular, but rather a Bible study group. There have always been threads discussing religion or lack thereof (sure hope @Mr. Ed finds his way back... many of those threads were his) without any issue.

You're replying to an early post of mine: post #11. After that, I also wrote post #60 and post #99 which further explain my feelings. If you want to have a Bible study and others choose to participate, those are individual decisions.

Yes, Daily, that would happen. There has been mockery of Christianity here in threads having nothing to do with religion... calling it a "fairy tale"... mocking Jesus. I seriously don't want to deal with that and we shouldn't have to.

The above may be true but if you adhere to that logic, then the ones mocking will have won in trying to shut the believers up. In other words, they would be taking away our rights to share the Bible, because we let them.

I am reading further down now. I'm a little behind in the posts. I tend to jump the gun sometimes on things that matter to me. Sorry I didn't read further.

I would enjoy it Mitch.
Would you... really?

What would you get from a Bible study led by a man who has never read the Bible and does not believe in God?

Mitch has posted:
However, I never read the Bible and do not really believe in one God, Jesus, who can help so many people. Thus, I am a believer in Christian MUSIC but not in a "god" who can take care of billions of people.

When this was first replied upon I saw those thirsty to know more, to grow in their understanding to gather
....
It became clear it was a group of children without a teacher to teach and none stepped forward.
There were those who stated they had no objections and could honor it and would keep it pleasant.
Plus an intellectual that appears to have a low opinion of thirsty children.

If this was a test I wonder who passed?
OFF TOPIC
Children are too young to make important decisions, like religious, marriage, or career choice. These questions are better left to adulthood in my opinion.
That is the problem with many teachers who are too ready with spiritual answers or other matters of opinion.
A Bible Study geared toward children needn't be religious but could be historical, sociological, literary, moral, or just interesting, thought-provoking stories.
Shadrack, Meshak and ToBedWeGo were my best buds from Sunday school.

Years back, we had something similar to a Bible Study group. I think there was a category for ā€œGroup Discussionsā€ or something similar to that. I think the lady from Australia (Dame Warrigal) was the moderator of the group, but I may be wrong.

I believe Mitch was not, is not a religious man ever but with death on the horizon he is trying to now that he’s facing the Grim Reaper and wondering if he can manipulate his future.

A last minute conversion.
@Della
That’s why I think his intentions are more about conquering death than understanding the Bible.
I have a fault. My fault is that I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Who are we to say what Mitch's intentions are? He is getting up in years, and I think the older we get, the more we think about an afterlife. He might be sincere in wanting to learn more.

I gave great thought to this topic before writing my post #60 and tried to be sensitive to the forum and all members participating in this thread. I'm sad to see there is a shadow of discord already. Looking back, I feel I made the right decision, whatever the test may be.
You did make the right choice. And after I was reminded of a few things and remembered some things without being reminded, I would make the same one at this point.

After reading all of the above posts, there's obviously an interest in some sort of Bible Study or discussions and also several people that nixed the idea. I think it's great with people sharing what they have got from the Bible, but with so much controversy and pros and cons on it, I don't see it getting off to a very good start. I hope Mitch can find someone to help him better understand the Bible so that maybe it will help and comfort him when he begins to transition from this life.
