Bling or no bling?

Seems that women like to adorn themselves more than men. A few young female garage sale customers had bracelets on their arms up to the elbows, nose rings, tats, orange and green spiked hair. I thought that went out of style in the 90s. I don't remember a man customer with much more adornment than a wristwatch.

Don't really see too much bling around. My gfriends and I don't wear any. One of my gfriends doesn't even wear her wedding ring.
My sister is only one I see with lots of gold (not real) bracelets on and about 4 gold chains w/crosses around her neck. She's very thankful to be alive, plus she just got baptized last year.

I like jewelry. I don't like bling on clothes. I like more plain clothes.
I like jewelry too but not on clothing. I agree with you there. I prefer to wear my own jewelry ie.- pieces that I have made. . And it looks nice.
Younger women/girls wear more bling than older women so there is something youthful about it. I like earrings and finger rings best and have worn both since teenage. I prefer to be tasteful than extravagant when it comes to jewelry. But I can appreciate how others express themselves with bling. :giggle:

I rarely wear much jewellery anymore. Small pearl earrings, sometimes my wedding ring and always my smart watch. For travel, I used to have a silver chain and a gold chain that I could add lockets, etc. If I were going to Las Vegas, I’d have worn quite a bit. It’s a blingy kind of town.

I wear Jewellery but only when I go out...and that means to the shops as well as anything more special

I wear Earrings usually hoops... a watch, bracelets or bangles.. usually silver but sometimes costume beads.. I have lot of necklaces, but I genuinely only wear necklaces if I'm wearing a very plain tunic top, then it lifts it a little... or if I'm going to a fancy do ( not been for several years).. and I have a lowish cut dress on... I have lots of rings, but on a daily basis I don't wear any rings at all..

I don't wear much more jewelry than my wedding ring & a pair of earrings for regular errands. If we are going out to a nice place for dinner or a get together, I'll do more. Around the house, no jewelry.

I don't really know because I don't run into people much and have not gone to events where people might wear jewelry. I did notice though that a whole lot of jewelry is being sold on the shopping networks on TV. Some of it is quite expensive too.

It looks beautiful but I don't know if it's really worth the price they are selling it.

Non omne quod nitet aurum est, or in English, "all that glitters is not gold".

Just something that I memorised as a 14 year old schoolgirl when we studied "The Merchant of Venice".

I have a few small but nice pieces of good jewellery but nothing flashy. I am in the process of giving them away as mementos to my daughter and granddaughters. To me, cheap costume jewellery is sufficient for occasions when a bit of extra flair is required.

To be honest, the only time I notice other people's jewellery is when they wear something I'd like myself. I like simple designs and really love vintage jewellery. Most days I wear stud earrings and my rings but, depending where I am going and what I am wearing, I sometimes wear a bracelet and/or necklace.

The one thing I notice few people wearing are watches. I have quite a few watches but seldom wear them, if I want to know the time, I can just look at my mobile phone.

I cleaned out a lot of my jewelry. I find nowadays I wear my favorite ring, my wedding ring, and a choice of three simple earrings.
I wear a necklace once in a blue moon.
I don't think I see people wearing as much as they used to. I'll take notice when I'm out.

I think that jewelry in terms of item size and quantity runs almost in fashion cycles. My mother used to wear large pendants around her neck on a chain. One was a large monkey made of jade several inches in diameter. No one wanted it after her death, so we sold it to a dealer for $500.

Large hoop earrings seems to be popular with many women these days. I’ve seen some that hang down almost to the wearer’s shoulders. I’m always tempted to try and throw ping-pong balls or other small objects through such earrings, but forebear, fearing arrest should I do so…but it tempts me sorely! 😈
