September 5th marks the 90th birthday of comic actor Bob Newhart.

I always enjoyed him and the shows he was on. I loved the Newhart show and also when he would get teased by Don Rickles who was his best friend.

They are having a marathon broadcast of Bob Newhart shows this weekend starting at 1:30 pm Saturday on the Decades Network.

It still boggles my mind, after all these yrs,he won his 1st Emmy award in a guest starring role on CBS'The Bang Theory' 2 yrs ago.He played'Prof Arthur Neutron' who was host of a kids science show.It was because of his show,both 'Sheldon'{Jim Parsons} and "Leonard'{Johnny Galecki} wanted to become scientists

I have the decades channel on broadcast tv. I like Bob Newhart. Wow, he sure is getting up there.

I bought my husband the DVD set for his birthday last year. (These old series are very reasonably priced on eBay.) So far we have that, the Mary Tyler Moore Show, and WKRP sets. Barney Miller might be next.

When we're RV camping we don't bother to hook up the TV cable, but my sweetie likes to watch an half hour or hour of mindless TV before bed. If we're at home it doesn't matter - he watches in another room while I read in bed. But in the camper he prefers to watch while in the bedroom. Even though I'm reading or falling asleep, shows with conflict cause me anxiety and bad dreams. Seinfeld and Friends, for instance, typically have conflict between the characters. Lots of sharp elbows being thrown among the regulars.

The humor in MTM, Bob Newhart, WKRP and Barney Miller is less abrasive and nasty toward one another.

In any event, I have been a Bob Newhart fan since "Button Down Mind" back in the 60s. A funny guy without a rude side.
