A police department in Maryland has released body camera video that captured two of its officers berating a 5-year-old boy who had walked away from his elementary school, calling him a “little beast” and threatening him with a beating, the AP reports.

Apparently this happened over a year ago... why hasn't this been released until now...?

Police departments try not to release videos of police misconduct because it spoils the "Hero Worship" many people have of cops.

Glad you mentioned that, even though it's not "politically correct." I've noticed that many fat people hate themselves & they often take it out on others. When I was overweight, I hated myself, BUT I never made others suffer for it.

You'd be surprised at how many people think that. I think it's how some parents feel powerful & work out their frustration. And, call it "Discipline" to justify it.

I got as far as them telling her it's ok to beat her kid. I am beyond floored.

We grew up getting spanked. I got no issue with that. Had they physically abused me that would've been different. I feel for the mom because it's like she's between a rock and a hard place with him. He's likely gonna become a troubled teen.

I thought I heard one of the other ladies say he was special needs. That being the case he really should be schooled elsewhere I would think. I don't know.

From the first words out of the cops mouth his voice is wat too loud instead of trying to comfort the little boy. Compare his voice to when he spoke to his mother. Suspend him for 60 days without pay. Then he mentions a "whoopen." Big, tuff cop.

2020 incident. But how did a 5 year old escape or leave school? Is this how that school watches 5 year olds? That being said the scared straight approach towards a 5 year old is a little much.
Yes police were heavy handed but if I were the mom I'd be just as worried about the child just 'leaving' that school
