Bored in Retirement? Try This.

I like to write simple songs that have a personal meaning to me. nothing professional. For a couple, I used Revocalize AI with DAW... (Digital Audio Workstation). Are you familiar with this software?

My pal Gordon turned me onto it. I've been thinking of getting my own setup although the initial cost is kind of high, the program does a lot of things.
Record your singing (or instruments)
Apply Auto-Tune, pitch correction, reverb, compression, EQ, etc.
Edit audio (cut, move, layer tracks)
Add beats, loops, or virtual instruments
Mix multiple tracks together (vocals + drums + guitar, etc.)
Master the final song for release
No, I've never heard of Revocalize AI. I'll have to check it out.

My gal pal (D) has the whole setup and let me try it recently with a little reverb thrown in. Hard to tell how it compares to a recording studio as I can't afford what they want for studio rental, to say nothing of the extra dollars you shell out for studio musicians.

However, since I'm not trying to monetize anything, I'm happy with the outcome.

Something else to consider.. Revocalize includes AI-powered features to enhance your actual voice, rather than replacing it. It can act as a sophisticated "filter" to make your raw recordings sound studio-ready. That's the feature I like best.

Welcome :) ... You're quite talented. Maybe good enough to have quit your day-job ;)
You mentioned that you play all the instruments in your videos but who is that female on drums in the OP video? Related?
Oh my - now you're asking me to reveal my secrets. She's not really playing the drums. I recorded the drums separately and synchronized the video of her to make it appear she was playing. I liked the look and vibe she brought to the video. Other than me, there is no one else playing on any of my songs (although I wouldn't be against doing that - collaboration is a very powerful thing).

Thanks OneEyedDiva - I'd love to hear your music & see your videos - maybe you could give me a hint someday so I could find them. I play all the instruments on my videos - guitar, keyboards, bass, & drums (although these days I use the EZDrummer software for most of the drum tracks).
I have told one of our other musicians, @PeppermintPatty, that I am in awe of people who are multi instrumentalist, especially when they sing while playing! Your videos are very well done. The scenes in Trashman Of Love are intriguing. I haven't watched all of your videos yet, but intend to. Thank you for your interest in my music. I will message you the links soon.

Great! Thank you.

@Music Guy

I enjoy dabbling in songwriting. I have a couple of tunes in the jar...waiting to be recorded.
Perhaps some day we will get together and hammer something out! 🍻

Sounds good. I'd be happy to provide advice on how you can get started with your own home recording studio. I say "studio", but it can be as simple as a few small outboard components and some software loaded onto your laptop.

I write and record my own songs, which is a good way for me to improve my playing and singing since I don't play in a band or anything. I don't have any interest in using AI to generate music. The whole idea is to personally create something -- even if it's not very good.

AI can create passable music... actually, it can create contemporary country music pretty well, but I don't care for that kind of music. Suno users can create a new song is just a few minutes with just a couple prompts. The problem with that is: they sound like they were created in just a few minutes. Does anybody actually listen to AI generated songs or are they just for background music?

The Ai generated songs I've heard were all doo-wop. And I thought they were done quite well.
