Brave (browser) over Firefox?

Recently, I've been increasingly frustrated with Firefox. It uses an enormous amount of RAM memory (I've seen it over 5 gigs at times), it's slow and seems to have more glitches as time goes on. I decided to try Brave and so far it doesn't disappoint. It seems to use less RAM and it pulls up web pages much faster than Firefox. If it doesn't start to show it's own sort of idiosyncrasies I'll be staying with it.

Hello. I always use Firefox. There must be something amiss your end. I have just opened 20 tabs, and it uses 2.2 GB. 1 tab uses 0.5GB. 20 tabs in Brave uses 2GB.Try Firefox's troubleshooting mode in Help.

Firefox crashed so many times years ago that I stopped using it. I started using Brave because it's supposed to eliminate ads, but about two months ago, I noticed I now get ads on SF while using it when I never did before that. Brave can be frustrating when trying to save bookmarks across devices. I followed their instructions and it still didn't work. I use Brave because it is supposed to be safer than Chrome (which I still use), but I'm not crazy about it.

I've only been using Brave for a few days and it does have some limitations. So far though it behaves much better than Firefox. I try to avoid Chrome just because google is like the CIA, always spying!

I get wishy-washy about switching. I use FireFox, always have for many years. I start reading the hype, then remember it's just another person's opinion. I've never had a problem with FF. Switching can be a hassle, so I stay. I did test drive several, but none looked any better or more secure. I have ad blocking/tracking addons that seem to work, but who really knows what's the truth & believable. For now I'll stick with what works for me.

It took all of 10 minutes to download Brave and import all of my bookmarks. What sort of hassle are you expecting?

I try NOT to keep my passwords & userIDs on my laptop or on a jump drive, something they drummed into us when I worked in security. In fact it was a security violation to keep it written down on paper in your wallet. Changing passwords every 3 months (my standard) is still a hassle especially when they insist you use your email address as your userID. changing those take more time than it's worth.

I don't usually go the easy way around it. Encrypted! Hah, just a minor challenge to hackers. First thing I try to disable or remove, electronic memory vs my memory. (Addresses, UserIDs, Passwords, Payment Methods,,,etc.)

I encrypt all my HDDs & SSDs and thumb drives with AES-256 encryption, which at the moment has not been cracked. Everything will change when Quantum computers are developed with in excess of 295 million qubits .

Since I try not to use the same password for all my sites the problem is the sheer volume of passwords required. These days pretty much everyone requires an account on their website. I have over 150 online accounts and I don't have the ability to memorize all of the user names and passwords. If you can't write them down, and can't store them on a thumb drive how do you manage them? I thought about a password manager but in that case a hacker only needs to break one password to access all of your passwords.

I've tried them all. I love Brave so far; it's given me the fewest problems. I've tried the new Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Tor Browser, but I am sure that will change again one day. I tried a new one called Zen, but that one drove me nuts and was uninstalled quickly.

Although I like & will stay with FireFox - Brave was interesting but limited for what is setup through FireFox. Probably going to get into the nuts & bolts of it at a later date, just not right now. I know for sure I won't be using Chromium again. Also, I've seen no conflict with memory or other problems. I haven't tried Edge, haven't used windows since XP or 7 (late 1990's), strictly Linux & Firefox.

I use Chrome. Never liked Fire Fox. Used to use Opera. I tried Duck Duck Go several days ago. I hated it. Got rid of it after 10 or 15 minutes.
