Bulging disc has reared its head again.

Thank you Holly, I will do this later on today.
Pain is much less than yesterday. I can walk around - with extreme care - still getting spasms which hurt like the bejesus.
Slow and gentle.
Oh I know the spasms only too well.. horribly painful, ...even breathing causes a spasm... I know... but before you get out of bed in the morning do these exercises, they are very gentle .. and they really will help you to get out of bed easier... and any time during the day, when you get the spasms do them then...

I hope you feel better soon...

Bretrick.. I have the same issues with my lower back.... been through Chiropractors. physiotherpists and cortisone injections.. I want you to do this... believe me it will help... and do it every time it happeens in the future..

Lie flat on your bed, with just one pillow behind your head.
Arms palm down on the mattress either side of your body...
Bring your knees up toward you, keeping your feet flat on the bed or floor..

Keeping your arms flat on the bed... gently swing both knees together to the left, hold for the count of 6... bring them back to the middle slowly... and take them to the right gently.. as far as you can get them without pain... and hold for the count of 6... keep your back flat on the bed at all times

Do this for 12 times... or until you can't .. and do this every morning before you get out of bed...

A sports physio taught me to do this, and it really does help....
Hello, I started the exercise this morning. Easy enough to do.
Have to be very slow and methodical getting up off the bed.
Legs over the side, slowly roll onto my side and push myself up. Keep back straight when standing.

Years ago a PT gave me a couple exercises to do for relief and therapy, little did I know then that those back pains would point to much bulging and stenosis in the Lumbar discs. Here is a copy of the handout the PT gave me, I now recognize these poses as being simply Yoga:

These stretches can be done on your bed, or on the floor(or mat) if able.
With my back, I would be down with the count... Help call a forklift man, get me up!

Oh please do.. just remember keep your back flat on the surface with your hands palms down and your feet flat on the bed.., then raise your knees gently.. then keeping everything else flat on the surface, swing your knees together to the right as far as you can comfortably go, stop.. ..bring them back up to the middle slowly..., then to the left... stop, bring them back up to the middle ..stop.. and do these for at least 6 times each side..

Do this every morning before you get up,.. and again if you feel pain any time during the day..

Good luck I really hope it helps with the pain and loosens up your back..

exactly...that's precisely what I do... and altho' I don't use a cane or any disability aids any other time... when my back goes out like yours has... I find that having a cane next to my bed.. gives me that extra support to raise myself off the bed in the mornings...
