I like butter to put on my bread or to fry some eggs, I like the cheap soybean margarine to pop my cheap popcorn with, it gives the popcorn that movie theatre taste. I have tried the yogurt margarine because it said it was healthy, but for me it does not have a taste. So says the guy whose mom would cook in the kitchen, with a lard bucket on the side to cook with, and a can of flower to thicken foodstuffs with.
Butter was always my favorite, but I hardly eat it anymore. A couple years ago, I bought a bunch of butter at Costco to freeze. I planned for 6 months because Costco is a long way from me. I still have most of that 6 months supply two years later. Haven't bought margarine for several years.
I seem to recall that several years back some study said that margarine was unhealthy so we switched to Land of Lakes butter with canola oil which makes it somewhat easier to spread......pretty darn good.
