By what name did you call your grandparents ??

Both my grandfathers died before I was born but I've always wished I had a grandpa like Grandpa Walton. When I first left home, my landlord and I were very close and he was something of a substitute grandfather until he went senile but I just called him by his name, Jake.

My English side (mother's) Grandma.

My French side (father's) minmere. She was French-Canadian and immigrated here where she met my grandfather who immigrated from France. When I was little I thought minmere was French for grandmother but as it turns out it's more little mother and she was very petite so I guess that's why we called her that.

My grandson calls me Grammy.

Paternal grandparents: Grandpa had died in 1956, never met him but was told it was Grandpa. Nicknamed paternal grandmother, Grandma Snow (she loved it).

Out of her many grand and great-grandchildren, I was the only one who visited her for two whole years. We had lunch together at her OAP ministudio. She apparently told her daughter (my aunt) how it made those two years special. Sadly, I wasn't told where she'd moved to. She gave me my nickname: White Feather.

Maternal grandparents: only could speak to Grandpa. She hated children, so didn't speak much to her and she disliked kisses. If we forgot and gave her one on the cheek, we'd hear this word in parting: Judas...

Grandma Rose & Grandma Annie. When only using the title, it was (((Rose))). Annie was a bitch. I did admire her on certain levels, though. Rose maternal.

We called ours Mamaw and Papaw. Common thing here in Kentucky I guess. Maybe not.

I am not a grandparent myself. My only daughter cannot have children. If she could, I'd love to be called Meemaw. It's just cute.

Our daughter, when she was just a wee one, called my father-in-law "Papapa", because she couldn't say "Grandpa".
