Call your Representative now.

WOW!!!! Maybe the phone calls helped.. that is good news! As much as I have supported our President... This issue is where we part company.. I simply do not understand why he is fighting so hard for this.

Obama's support for this issue shouldn't be too big of a mystery. He raised almost 500 million from "Large Contributors" in his 2012 election campaign....and now, with only about about 18 months left in his Presidency, it's Payback time.

Big Pharma already got at least one payback early in his presidency by 'sitting in' on Obama Care preparation/meetings. With this I think it's about patents and generics or raising the price of generic by more control over old patents.

That's right...if this TPP passes, drug prices will probably increase substantially, and even more of them will be manufactured in Asia...with little or no oversight from the FDA. Big Pharma is probably drooling all over itself in anticipation of this measure passing.

What happens if drug prices rise above the ability of all but the wealthy to afford? Do people travel to Canada for pharmeceuticals? I have an American friend who bought her cancer drugs here, but was reticent about how it was done. Thankfully She is cancer free.

Drug prices in the US are already ridiculously high...compared to other nations. One of our Son-in-Laws parents spend their Winters in South Texas...and they go over to Mexico and get a years supply of the drugs they take...at about 1/3rd to 1/2 the cost of what they would pay here.

Our entire Health Care System is headed for a brick wall. It won't be much longer before our government faces some severe financial problems trying to support these spiraling costs with Medicare, Medicaid, and now this ACA....all of which are having to contend with our grossly bloated system.

Perhaps Travelling to Mexico for meds will be an option for some, I dread to think of the fate of those who cannot afford to travel. So sad and immoral in a first world country. I don't understand why the people stand for it. I wonder how long they will continue to do so?

"I don't understand why the people stand for it". I do...and in one word...Stupidity! The people of the US have been Brainwashed into believing that we have a good system...and that "socialized medicine" is Evil. Yet, virtually every study that compares our system to the rest of the Western World shows that we pay Twice as much as most other nations, and rank at the Bottom, in terms of quality of care, etc. Here is one good example that compares the US to Canada and Europe....

"How long will they continue to do so?" I feel quite certain that within the next 5 to 10 years, our bloated "For Profit" system is going to implode. The ACA(Obamacare) is going to be the final straw that forces the US to enact measures that bring this nation in line with what is working quite well for the rest of the civilized world. Already, the insurers are talking about raising premiums and co-pays by huge amounts for 2016 and beyond....as a result of the ACA. I don't think it will be much more than the end of this decade before the American public wakes up and faces the fact that we are Being Had by our present system.

One way will be "evergreening"-the practice of drug companies slightly modifying patents to keeps drug prices high.

I hate to keep harping about this HOWEVER, this morning I have again called my Congressman and urged him to hold strong against the Presidential strong arming of Democrats and again vote NO on the TAA which will prevent Fast tracking of the TPP. Congress AND the American public should be able to see what the TPP entails before allowing it to become law. The American worker has taken it in the shorts each time a trade deal like this is reached.

Posted this on Ralphy's thread too.. People need to pay attention..

[Are these Democrats simply loyal to the President or are they paying off debts or honoring other "agreements".[/QUOTE]

I'd say its a pretty safe bet that the politicians who vote for this are honoring their big campaign donors. "Party" doesn't mean very much anymore...when you check out the voting record of some of these career politicians.

WARNING - Rumor of move to vote on TPA today or tomorrow as of this posting. Also the Republicons trying to push fast track by itself again.

http://www.nationaljournal.com/cong...round-an-approach-to-save-fast-track-20150617

Gut check for the politicians-Are they more worried about their constituents or their peers. If they vote for fast track they are playing the loyalty card to the party and their donors/lobbyists. If they vote against they are for and have listened to their constituents.

Also notice how they are playing with the time/timing of the re-vote or next vote. First it was supposed to be Tuesday past. Then it was moved to the end of July now they want another vote as early as today. They are going to try slip this in under the radar. Big news day but look at the other stories-always. Timing is everything and they know it.

You will comply, Republicons punish their own

Some of the fallout from the failure to pass the TPA or fast track is that three Republicans who voted against the measure/s were demoted with in the Republicon party.

http://www.nationaljournal.com/cong...-gop-whip-team-as-leaders-crack-down-20150616

So for a party that talks about an over reaching big government and/or president they are acting like the Borg collective.

They should just come out and tell them- "Look, we want and need that pac money."

As rumored the house passed the TPA again. The approved bill must go to senate for final approval or the bill can be sent to the president as-is with no US worker protection.

http://www.examiner.com/article/house-passes-tpa-fast-track

As far as I'm concerned the no vote last week was trickery to make it seem like they had voted against in fact they take the subject out of the headlines especially on a news day like today. It's was for appearances sake. The TAA is a ploy or tactic even if approved. Will government assistance help a union worker making 20-30 dollars an hour when it's effective real world rate will wind up at 10-15$ an hour if they are lucky. Big bad John still looks like he is charge. The "professional" politicians were able to cover their butts and that's all that matters. Lobbyist money still flowing.

One of the horses to be traded with Fast Track/TPA is the Import Export Bank which many have been calling for it's demise due to corruption.

Should tax dollars be used to artificially pump trade? Where does the money actually wind up? Shouldn't an actual bank being making loans or trade organizations giving subsidies

The House passed the bill last week....and the Senate is due to vote on it today. We'll soon know which of these politicians have any sympathy for the American Workers, and which ones are just bending to the wishes of their big campaign financiers.

What I meant was that the House passed the TAA afterall, which would mean that fast track and the TPP were all but a done deal.

Never mind... I guess it didn't.... I was half listening to ED last night and though I had heard it. OK... lets see what the Senate does.

Ok... I've called Senator Durbin's office this morning. The house did unbundle Fast Track from TAA.. so now Fast Track goes to the Senate today.. It needs 60 votes as it certainly will be fillibustered.. Therefore CALL YOUR SENATOR for a NO vote for Fast Track.

I called Senator Mark Kirks (R. Il) too.. what a joke.. I of course reminded him about how Blue we are... how we are watching him... and how MUCH we love Tammy Duckworth! lot of good that will do. That little turd is a teabagger.
