Calling All Dogs, Beautiful or Funny

Jack. He was a dog we had for a while, during a period of living on shared land here in BC. He was a sweet mutt (I could guess like a Golden Retriever & Australian Shepherd cross). He was adopted when nearly grown. We'd hoped he'd be a bear dog, and he met expectations since he could chase away, or at least challenge (and thereby alert us) about, a bear intruding into the property.

He was a friendly, medium-large dog who looked a lot like this...

My daughter was about four years old when Jack arrived on the land. She'd only had experience with a pet cat previously when she got introduced to Jack. Because he was pretty big and a dog, she was quite fearful of him. However, when I suggested to her that Jack was "a cat in a dog suit", that idea quelled her fears. She was soon smiling and petting him.
