Can you be defined by the music you listen to?

Possibly but the definition would probably be different than for most. The word eclectic would be in there. The only genre of music i take a pass on is Heavy Metal and that was after a few attempts. I enjoy classical, Jazz, Swing (because i watched a lot of movies on TV as a teen that were from my parents' era i was exposed to that music as well. Folk music, country music.

Of couse i love the rock, R & B and funk from the 60s and 70s, have seriously considered giving my kids a list of 2 or 3 of my 'had to dance to' (no matter where i was) songs with instructions to play if i'm ever in coma. If there is no twitching or movement of limbs and/or eyelids than it is safe to accept my consciousness has left this body!

Question? Is it me or does Christian music seem like brainwash?

I mean no harm or disrespect for people who enjoy Christian music. Unless a listener of Christian music completely agrees with the lyrics, Christian music makes me uncomfortable. Perhaps I am not Christian, but that doesn't concern me because I am.

Dua Lupa, Pink, David Archuletta are ones i like. But there's others.

Except for Dolly Parton i never cared for the country music of my youth. But i like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney and other modern country songs/singers mostly for their meningful lyrics.

Having a daughter growing up in the 80's-90's, I heard a lot of music she favoured .. and found that I liked it.
She puts me on to her music now as well. Keeps me young!
 
I certainly am defined by the music I listen to. Classic country from the 40s and 50s. I grew up during the 50s in an atmosphere like most of the songs are written about. Simple life, slower pace, love and loss., hardships.
It was played on the radio at home and my dad played his guitar and sang those songs.
It was part of my life and it is me today.
I never get tired of it and it brings back fond memories.
 
I guess I can't be defined at all because I love music from all decades. The only music I don't enjoy is Hip-Hop and Country music, but that's just a personal preference. I still appreciate the story they have to tell.

I love everything from The Beatles and The Grass Roots, to Boston and Foreigner, Blondie and New Order, No Doubt and Savage Garden, to Dua Lipa and Adele. I like Rock, Pop, Soul, Dance, New Wave, Folk, etc. My father majored in Music in college so I guess I inherited my love of music from him. Anything that makes my foot tap is therapeutic.

Today though, this is it. They just don't write 'em like that anymore!
