Charry, I had suffered from depression and started using the natural herb St. Johns Wort and it worked for me. You might check out natmedtalk.com and search St. Johns Wort. This site is helpful for all who prefer natural medicine and not chemicals.

I don’t know the answer to the following, so maybe someone wants to take it a crack at it.

If a person has a mental illness, for example; what about a serial killer or any killer for that matter. Anyone that commits a murder and is convicted of such, no doubt about it, he’s guilty, psychiatrists will sometimes come to court and state under oath that the defendant is “suffering” from any number of mental illnesses, like bi-polar, codependency, etc. It's the defendant’s hope that the jury will take his illness into consideration, if not for the verdict, then maybe the sentence.

My point is that if a psychiatrist states that someone is “suffering” from a mental illness are they actually “suffering” if they don’t know they are “suffering.”
I think they're using the word in a somewhat different context. I always think of "suffering" as in pain physically or emotionally. Maybe they mean it in your scenario as "affected by". So maybe yeh, there is a suffering than cannot be felt.

"Could you be suffering & not be aware of it?"

Don't married people do that?

That sounds awful, Holly. Hope your hand is better by now!
Thanks Sunny, the skin on my fingertips is red and angry looking but it's not so painful this morning, I've just put zinc & castor oil cream on them that helps.. ... ..Lesson learned tho', no more tea-towels, I've got to get an oven glove of some type..

"St. John's wort might cause serious interactions with some medications. Because of this, France has banned the use of St. John's wort in products. In other countries St. John's wort is only available with a prescription."

I agree and only suggest a person research the herb. I have used it for years with success when I needed it and keep it near. My doctor wanted me to take RX chemicals and after reading the possible sight effects I said no.
