Can you Dance?

When I was growing up in the 60's,I would watch'American Bandstand' to learn the latest dance crazes e.g 'the stroll, twist, monkey'
Every Fri night,my siblings and I along with friends would take dancing lessons. We learned how to do fox trot, waltz
I can't remember the last time I danced

You sound alot like me.I watched Bandstand everyday and me and my sister would dance to most of the songs. Then every Friday,Saturday and Sunday my friends and I would go to dances. I loved dancing Of course now I mostly dance sitting down ! 💃💃💃💃🕺🕺🕺🕺

I took tap & ballet and wished I had continued dancing but for some reason I stopped.
Ballroom dancing 💃 is something I’ve been interested in yet never took lessons or really did much of It. Since my man doesn’t dance I don’t have a partner to practice with but I do dance by myself at home often enough. Anyway I’ve got great respect for those who learned to dance and still do.

I always liked to dance, just to regular rock and roll, never took lessons or was interested in other types of dance. I also watched American Bandstand, SoulTrain, etc. and danced along to the TV. Doesn't take much for me to feel the music, a song on the radio, a video here, or even a TV commercial song will get me movin', standing or sitting. I dance at home a little bit every day. :D Been years since I danced, sometimes I would go out with my girlfriend and we'd dance a bit. Hubby doesn't like to dance, I dragged him out a few times when we first got together, and he dances okay but doesn't enjoy it, so I stopped asking him to go with me. If he's not having a good time, then neither am I. 💑

Nope. It's all I can do to walk. I've never had a decent sense of balance.
All the coordination I have is in my hands; no place else. I'm only good at playing piano & shooting.

Cute story....my mom loved to dance. My dad didn`t,so they seldom did. Then after they divorced (after 38 years) she married a man who did like to dance. But not long after they married,he was severely injured in a parachuting accident and was paraplegic,so no more dancing. Then they divorced, and I think she went out dancing every night for the rest of her life. So one day,I was sewing something, and my middle daughter-then about 9-asked me how I learned to sew. I told her that my Nonie taught me. She said "Oh.My Nonie doesn`t sew-my Nonie dances." So we had a bracelet engraved for my mom that Christmas that read "My Nonie dances"....

You play the piano?
Do you have a piano?
What type of stuff do you play?
How long have you been playing and do you play any other instruments?
Do you sing while you play?
Do you sight read or write your own songs?

I have a Yamaha C7 (it's a big one - 7.6 ft. I don't play any other instruments.
I was forced to study it at age 4. Ya know, Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, etc. I quit around age 15 & worked regular jobs for the next 45 years. 3 years ago, I decided it was fun (when I wasn't being abused), so I bought a piano & started playing again, just for fun & friends.

Not very well.

We had ballroom dancing lessons during gym class every other Friday my freshman year in high school. Since it was just us girls and I was one of the tallest ones in the class, I always had to be "the guy". That means I had to "lead" and I've never been able to stop leading.

Besides, I had no talent. Except for the "twist". Boy, could I Twist!

In college, I took "interpretive dancing" as my phys ed requirement. That was OK, because you could stand still, calmly wave your arms over your head while swaying side-to-side and call out "I'm a tree! I'm shedding my leaves!" I spent a lot of time being a deciduous tree. The only thing that was easier was being a pine. Pines got to stand there and shiver occasionally as the snow fell on them. Once I found out how easy a pine was, I moved to pines for the rest of the semester. Oh, I tried out "stone" once, but I didn't get by with it.

My late husband and I took ballroom and country dancing lessons. Unfortunately, he was even worse than I was and the instructor gently suggested we take up bowling or skeet shooting or perhaps birdwatching instead. We decided to take up Barcalounger. Turned out we were very good at it.

I used to dance Ballroom, all the dancehalls had bands in
those days, no rock and roll or jiving, then after a while
when they couldn't stop them, they were allowed to dance
in the corners of the hall!

Then records and tapes were cheaper than a band and all
kinds of dances were allowed, probably because the young
people didn't know about ballroom.

I can still dance, but slower, much slower than before, I used
to spin my partner at the corners, now can't corner too fast.

Mike.

When my younger brother and I were teenagers we would do the "bump". We showed our mom what we were doing and the look on her face was priceless.

I did take country western dance lessons when I was in the Jaycees. My husband wouldn't take them though, so I had to have one of the other guys stand in. It turned out to be a lot of fun. Sadly, I never went anywhere that I could use my newfound skill.
