Can you remember ?

Naw, would've gotten yelled at, my dad couldn't stand for us kids to make a sound. (It was okay if he made a noise--i.e., yelling--but didn't want anybody else to.) So the whole rest of my life has been trying to be as quiet, preferably silent, as possible.
Same here.

In Eureka, there used to be this huge billboard with the Marlboro Man on it, and it said "I Want My Lung Back, Bob" on it. I have no idea who Bob was...
I remember that sign, or one similar to it, funded by the anti-smoking people. I think they may have been referring to the Marlboro Man. The sign I recall was on the 101 just before it turned east in the center of Eureka.

As I drive through small towns I notice that many old restaurants, cafes and diners have closed. I remember them and I imagine what they were like in their prime.

Does the Blue Plate Special still exist somewhere in the universe in a quaint diner?

Is there a jukebox still playing somewhere?

Can you still sit and pick from a turntable of fresh baked pies somewhere in the world?

We still have a few here in coastal Mississippi. But the corporate joints have taken over. OTOH Waffle House is not terrible, and there's one every mile or two around here...;)

I suspect that there are still some around in the northeastern U.S. too. Diners were big in NY state.
