I think we have come so far away from natural eating that you can't see the line we crossed so far back!
All this talk of organic non-organic food...my great grandfathers farm when they first came to Canada in 1874 was 'organic' the whole time. Never chemicals or pesticides ever. Never wanted to make money from the farm, so all he and his son cared about was producing for his family. After my grandfather retired from CN, (they had moved to the city many years earlier) he thought about starting to make money from the farm and top up his pension and help the grand kids make some money.
He inquired about getting the farm certified organic. Ha what a joke! He had soil, tree, grasses, water samples done, by a contact that worked in the industry, and all came back clean as a whistle. Pure natural, clean...organic. But in order for the govt to do the same and register it as organic, it would cost thousands and thousands of dollars, plus have to follow ridiculous rules in perpetuity, not to mention registrations, permits and so on.
So, he politely told the govt where to shove it, and started selling his farm products anyway. Listed them as organic regardless. The local community knew all the farmers in that area were natural and organic anyway. Anyone who asked him or his kids about being organic, he would simply show copied of the testing he had done.
But the question begs...shouldn't all food be 'organic'? Why do we put toxic, poisonous products on our grasses, veggies, etc? Shouldn't we know better? We took what was natural organic healthy good for you food and turned it into a organic vs non-organic, and now decades later we are all on forums like these questioning everything! Disease rates, obesity, medical drug use off the charts, rising health care costs and so on.
Yet most still look for the answer to health! I think we all know what it is. It's pretty self evident, but too much govt and big ag and big corp interference and creates division, lies and deceit!
