Political donations in Canada by private individuals, who are Canadian citizens are limited to just $1,725.00 per year. That amount is what is allowed for donations to a candidate who is running for office at the municipal, Provincial or Federal level. In addition, donations to political parties by individual Canadians are limited to $1,725.00 per year, and donations to political party leaders are also limited to $1,725.00 per year. Political candidates in Canada can only donate $5,000.00 to their campaign fund. These facts come from Statistics Canada and Elections Canada sources. Limits on Contributions – 2024
In Canada, Corporations are NOT ALLOWED to contribute to any Political Party, or Candidate in any level of election, Municipal, Provincial, or Federal. I will repeat that. NO Corporate donations to any party or candidate are allowed in Canada.
My point is that running for political office in Canada at any level is not a matter of "the person with the most money wins ". JIMB.
