Cannafest????? A marijuana festival. Times have changed

I don't think "bravery " is appropriate to describe the kid's actions. Being a pain in the ass isn't bravery, in my book. In any case both of the women are now most likely dead, right ? JimB.
Pain in the Ass is how you describe Ms. Colvin's actions? How dare you. Would you have had the courage to do what she did? 99% of us would not have. Shame on you. I'm disgusted. Oh, and slavery was a good jobs program, or don't you make the leap to that conclusion?

What does being dead have to do with it?

I can't believe this from you, JimB. Maybe if it happened in Canada you'd feel differently?

Stating that this 15 year old year was a ā€˜pain in the ass’ is merely your biased opinion and a derogatory one at that. The girl refused to give up her seat to a young white girl so got arrested. She said if it was an elderly woman then she would have so she was handcuffed and thrown in jail for not giving up her seat. That’s bravery Jim.

She rarely talked about it but she was a catalyst for the civil rights movement. She IS still alive with 5 children and 6 grandchildren and recently took action to clear her name.

In 2021, at 82 years old, the activist filed for the expungement of her arrest record from 1955. Colvin’s motivation was to remind her grandchildren that change is possible.
What a fabulous role model. Her family must be so proud.

ā€œI want them to know that their grandmother stood up for something—against the injustice in America,ā€ she told Oprah Daily. ā€œThe laws will change, and a lot of people, not only myself, paid the price and made sacrifices.ā€

Jim! If you had to take public transportation and due to an unfair, unjust law, you had to get up to give your seat to a black person, would you? Be honest?

Luckily reality doesn’t exist by your book.
Just sayin.’

There're no narcs busting down your door for a few plants, just fun under the sun to praise the weed's effects-both medicinal and 'adult'. Times have changed
The billions of $$ spent on arresting & sending people to prison over the last several decades was not only a colossal waste, but a total travesty.
California still spends lots of $$ and effort on controlling the still thriving illegal trade, but at least they're collecting tax revenue from legal sales of Cannabis.

I remember another gathering where a lot of Marijuana was used, in 1969, at Woodstock. It was illegal, but nobody cared apparently.

"If we assume that one joint weighs 0.4 gm, and each of the 500,000 attendees smoked an average of one joint per day for the three days of the festival, that would yield a total of 600 kilos, or about half a ton smoked."

I live in a sleepy bedroom community in the sticks of Northeastern PA. It's definitely not San Franciso, nor NYC, but this weekend is Cannafest. Yup, a good ol' festival to celebrate Marijuana. And , to me, legalization of cannabis in Canada has been frustrating. I was looking forward to get high just once in my life, and drops, and chewable gummies, as well as brownies had absolutely no effect on me! I will die not ever having experienced a high (or beneficial effect) from caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, opioids or cannabis! The closest I ever came to a high was when I had a cigarette a couple of months after I quit! No, I didn't go back to smoking.

I wonder what would happen if we legalized all recreational drugs. Results seem to have been positive in Portugal who did just that. Sure would take care of all those Mexican and Central American Drug Cartels! It would also resolve the migrant crisis of people fleeing the brutality of the traffickers, clogging America's borders! Of course, Portugal also put a strong support system into place for addicts.

One joint a day at Woodstock? šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£
Haha. That’s funny.

What? You have tried gummies , drops and brownies and have never gotten high?
I’ve never in my life heard such a thing.
That is so very strange.

I blame a mastoidectomy I had as a child! The knife went too far and ruined the "high" part of my brain!

Another very strange thing, I had back pain for years and was on a strong pain reliever called Oxycocet!

When it didn't seem to ease the pain any longer (no, I never got high off it) I took myself off it over a period of three weeks without any side effects. It's not supposed to be that easy after years of use, but for me it was.

Now here's the strange thing, and you can choose to believe it or not! I have not had a pain since! I am ready to go into "Ripley's Believe It Or Not!"
