Can't find my car in the parking lot.

When you go into the woods, it is a good idea to periodically turn around and see what things are going to look like when you come back out. The same general rule applies with parking lots. Turn around and look back at your car and note the background that you will see when you return.

Now if you happen to have any good ideas that will help Pecos remember to be more diligent in following this rule, let me know.

Been there a few times. I guess someone is moving my car to another location. lol

The funniest was the time I went to a shopping center that had multiple floor parking lots. My g/f and I walked out and she went directly where she had supposedly parked and there was no car. She actually went ballistic thinking her car had been stolen. I just sat on a ledge and waited for her to figure it out.

This occurred during the 1980s; no electronic location beeper or flashing car lights.

Don't the newer cars have an electronic location beeper?
Yes, with the battery operated remote car opener key. I used mine once at my Subaru car dealer's lot after service, because every where I looked there were Subarus like mine.

a million years ago when first married, we had a 64 Chevy impala... it was already a beater. it was stolen FOUR times before we never got it back. after that, if i came out of supermarket or mall and didn't' immediately know where it was in the parking lot... in a bit of a panic.

went to NJ teacher's convention one year... in Atlantic City. when we got out of elevator to go home and car was not where it was supposed to be... was sure it was stolen. patrolling security guard came to my rescue. said when someone reports their car stolen it almost NEVER is. i was SURE it had been stolen. so who do you think was right?

i had an 04 Hyundai Sante Fe until this past January... dark red/maroon. i swear majority of small suvs were that color during that time.

now i have a Hyundai Tucson... white. now everybody seems to have something white.and suv-ish. have had a few times when i was clicking away at someone else's car.

A few days ago, I came out of the supermarket pushing my loaded cart, and for a moment or two, couldn't remember where in the lot I had left my car. A very nice young woman came up to me and asked if I needed help finding my car. Talk about embarrassing!

I told her no, thanked her anyway, and showed her my little remote thingie that I click to lock my car, open the trunk, etc. If I push one of the buttons, my horn will start beeping. I've never used it, but I did test it once, and it works.

Anyway, within a minute or so, I found my car, which was approximately where I thought I had left it. But I thought, "Wow, I must really look like an old lady!" 😁

I lost mine once. I walked all over the parking lot. I must have looked pretty distraught because a lady asked me if I lost my car and asked me if I hit the button that makes the car beep and flash its lights. I forgot I had one of those. I hit the button. The car was only about 5 cars away from where I was standing. I don't know how I missed it.

Buy a compass for the woods. Learn how to use it.

Last year I knew exactly where my car was in an empty area of Walmart parking lot. Came out and it wasn’t there. A man was ready to help me start looking when I saw my husband a few rows over waving at me. He knew I was there and had moved the car because someone had parked too close to me. If I can, I park a long way from the door so I can get some exercise. It seems that others presume that I know something special and should park there too.

Many years ago I lost a truck at the "Keele Service Area"
Southbound on the M6 motorway in England, it was an
18 wheeler loaded!

Keele Services are built on a bridge that spans across the
the road and both North and South traffic use it, you know
now what happened, I went to the Northbound side instead
of the South, it was another truck driver who suggested that
I cross over and check.

There it was

Mike.

I thought that only happened to me.. I swear I could park anywhere in an empty car park, and I'll return to find there's only one other car parked there and they'll be right up against me :cautious:

I lost mine, Once, at the KC airport after being in Las Vegas for several days. I forgot what level we were on in the parking garage, and we wandered around for some time before we found it. After that, I always write down the location on the ticket, and stick that in my wallet.

Several years ago, hubby and I had to go to Chicago airport to pick up sis and bro in law. Lost the car, it was on a different floor!

On a serious side, a sis in law has dementia. Cant tell you how many times she’s ‘lost her car’ in a grocery parking lot. So, so sad.

Some people have little pennants of their favourite sports team attached to their car. When cars had visible antenna's, my father-in-law had a little painted block of wood on his to make it easy to find his car.
