Can't straighten up

After I have been sitting for even a short length of time (like now typing this on my iMac), or bending slightly to sweep or vacuum, it becomes difficult to stand straight up because of the pain. After I stand and move around for a while it does get better, but if I stand too long without leaning on something, the pain returns. The pain is not excruciating, but it is quite uncomfortable. Bent over like this I feel like Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame! I'm 70, fairly active in my yards, housework and with my two Golden Retrievers. Anyone else have this trouble? Is this lumbar spondylosis?

It’s amazing how complicated the back really is. Same ailments can show in different ways, and vice versa. Do call your primary care provider & make an apt. Better than somebody having to call an ambulance for you further down the road.

I’m not sure what it is but I’ve felt pain like that and it from 2 damaged discs in my lower back. Since I had chiropractor insurance I saw a chiropractor and a regular doctor.

What helped me most with pain was Epsom Salts baths and handing down off the coach to stretch my back. It seemed to help stretch those two damaged vertibrae.

Not everyone trusts chiropractors and I understand this isn’t conventional treatment. It might not be for you but it worked great for me. Since then I do yoga and daily stretches to help maintain flexibility.
Best of luck. Sore backs are horrible.

I have the same. Every morning and sometimes day time. Stretching exercises and an ice pack finally get the pain to go away.

My chiropractor does me a world of good with lower back problems, too.

Back problems are common in humans. We were not designed to walk upright. If you have pain in your back it's because something is pressing on the nerve running through your spine. A degenerated disc pushes on the spinal cord. Sitting down is hard on the back. I remember having to go to work and stand up all day. Never, ever, bend down to do something because it puts strain on the back. Bend your knees instead and keep your back straight. My doctor told me never to take anything out of the trunk of a car because you can't bend your knees. He told me to send your kid in instead. If you can keep the pressure off your back it will heal to a certain extent. Stand up to the Mac if you are going to be working on it for a long time.

There are all kinds of tricks that you can do to alleviate the pain of lower back problems.
Chiropractor doesn't work for me. There is one exercise that I do that helps.
Lay flat on my back with a belt around my knees. Then I press outward on the belt with my knees.
That flattens out the back without putting strain on the muscles. It uses the stomach muscles.

I'm sorry to hear that, have you talked to your doctor about this? If you're looking for advice a doctor would be my go-to source
