Car Bomb Goes Off In Nashville Tennessee

Back in the 70’s, in St. Louis, there was a series of car bombings in apartment parking lots. A guy my husband worked with survived one. Then a local mafiosi named Paul Leisure ( if I recall correctly) was killed with a car bomb. Police speculated that the other bombs were just for practice because after that, they stopped.

Hope this is the same episode. First reports noted a car blew up... now this, Metro Nashville Police just finished a short press briefing. As I understood it, they indicated they were responding to a report of shots fired in the area and determined that there was something suspicious about the RV that led them to call for the Bomb Squad though they did not elaborate on what they found suspicious. During that response is when the RV exploded.
 
It seems domestic/lone wolfish yet there was a recording to leave the area, shots fired prior to explosion and really powerful blast. I don't think bomb ethusiasts could build something that powerful without practice/prototypes. Also apparently Nashville was the target of a nuclear attack early this summer.

Also note they ATT building was hit and alot of local service was affected.

Because it happened during Christmas the thought came that it was some radical Muslim terrorist making a religious statement. We'll see.
 
If it was foreign terrorism I don't think the perpetrator would have picked Christmas Day. For the very reason that those terrorists are interested in maximum casualties. My Las Vegas bet is domestic terrorism.

I was thinking grudge against ATT possibly because they had layoffs this year. But also a week ago there was a major internet attack ie the Solar Winds hack.

When ATT got taken out it knocked 911 and several counties among other things. But there were several other businesses ie restaraunts and bars there-but arson doesn't make sense because alot of insurance policies don't payout on arson or terrorism. So now it's back to somekind of terror or revenge attack.
 
I live in Nashville. Cell phone and internet service has been disrupted as far away as Alabama. Many people are unable to call 911.

My daughter and her husband went and purchased a burner phone just so they had some kind of communication because their phones don’t work and they also can’t get online to use messenger or even send an email.

Flights in and out of Nashville airport were also temporarily suspended causing many hours of delay.

Friends have driven to other friends or families homes to see if they’re ok because they can’t reach anyone. I’ve had several folks reach out to me to ask if we’re ok.

And yes, lots of warning was given to ensure there was plenty of time to evacuate the area.....several episodes of gunshots at spaced intervals for about 45 minutes, then 15 minutes of warning that there was a bomb and to evacuate the area from the van itself, broadcasting every minute.

There are no confirmed fatalities so far. Three or 4 people were treated for minor injuries.

As per news radio, human remains were found in/near the RV.
 
Person of interest a 63 year old self employed computer technician. RV similar was seen parked on his property.

The fact that there was an attempt to warn people of the coming blast seems to rule out either domestic or foreign terrorism. This sounds like a grudge bombing of a particular place. But here doesn't seem to be any one focus of the bombing. Maybe it was prematurely detonated before it was at it's intended target. Or it may have been a suicide plot. Maybe if your life was so miserable , at least your death would be spectacular?
