Car color vs. price

To me color is very important when buying a new car or a new sofa or a new anything...lol....thats just me.

Would I pay extra for a certain color? ...Hmmm, depends on the color and how much extra.

I've never paid extra for a different colour, I've always been lucky that I've had the perfect cars for me, one was a black Golf, it was a dream to drive and so comfortable! I now have a Silver Toyota, again it would have been my choice anyway so I'm a happy bunny:)

I've always noticed that the white trucks and cars on the lots are cheaper than any other color, Ina's probably right about the tints they may have to add costing more.

Ina is right about the cost factor - back when I was working at General Foods in the color and taste department I learned that certain colors cost far more to make because of raw ingredient prices. Same with pigments used in paint - found that out when I worked for a pearlescent coating company.

I just read somewhere recently that yellow cars hold their resale values the best. Personally I don't like yellow, but who am I to influence the car market?

Maybe when the manufacturers find that they have tons and tons
of one colour of paint, they use it up and sell the cars cheaper, just
to get rid of the stockpile.

Mike.

I have a black one; trouble is so do most other people; I do lose it in car parks......pink would stand out, but I don't think that would persuade me to drive one!

I reckon the colour is irrelevant After all you cannot see the colour sitting in the car.
Plus you only see the colour when you approach it.:D

In Florida white is very popular because the will not absorb all this heat and the inside will stay cool so, they have a higher resale price than other colors.

White was the color of 99% of the vehicles when I lived in Phoenix too. Came to Houston and although it seems just as hot here, more people seem to chose dark colors. Never understood that.
I still go with gray/beige or white myself.

I have a black car.....first one ive owned...so hot in summer, and so dirty in the winter....ive always had greys.....dark and light, dont really like other colours.....mind you i did have a red one.....pepper.......but yes so expensive to touch up colour..

Ive only owned vehicles that were either black, white, light gray or light tan.
But I did own a yellow Ford Galaxie Skyliner with retractable roof.
Why? To impress the girls at the Adventure Car Hop. What else?
